Any other students out there?

I am in my 3rd of 4 years of dental school, so we will be having the baby while I am in school. Is anyone else in the same boat? I am on scholarship so at least I do have an income, but it will still have its challenges. There are plenty of other students in our school who have had babies, so I have them for advice/support too. One week of my maternity leave will most likely be spring break, so that is one less week I will have to make up!

Re: Any other students out there?

  • I am! I'm a culinary arts major and I will be starting my cooking classes the beginning of the semester. I'm pretty excited that I get to make yummy food while pregnant but I'm a little worried about how the spring semester is going to go once I give birth.

  • I am currently in nursing school, but I will be graduating in Dec.! So I will spend my second trimester in my final semester of school.

  • I am! I'll be starting my last year of law school in the fall. I'm in the same boat with spring break, which is a nice perk. A few other women in my year have had babies recently, so I know it's not impossible.

We should do a weekly study check in starting in September or something. I'm glad I'm not alone!

  • That'd be cool! Third year of dental school is 2 days of classes, 3 days of seeing patients, then that changes to 1.5 days of classes and 3.5 days of clinic in the Spring. We should have about 1 test/week instead of the 2-3/week during the first 2 years of school. I should be able to make up the clinic time during the summer by coming in for both summer sessions instead of just the 1 I'm assigned too, but I will probably be making up exams for a while when I get back. I can also do my externship locally so that my production counts towards my graduation requirements. Its nerve wracking, but if something were to happen to make my time away from school more than 6 weeks, I'd rather graduate late than make my decision about whether or not to have a baby around school.

It is very encouraging to know I'm not alone! Thanks in advance for the support!
