Hey ladies! So I just started temping this week (end of my 1st month) and I've been temping by mouth. Thinking about changing to temp vaginally (next month) because everything I've read says it more accurate, especially if you sleep with your mouth open. I sometimes sleep with my mouth open, but it's not every night so it's not consistent.
Just curious...What does everyone else do on temping? And those that changed to temping vaginally, did you notice a more consistent chart? TIA!
Re: How Do You Temp?
Even though I don't temp vaginally, my husband calls the thermometer my vagmometer. Lol. He is like fifteen years old sometimes.

I'm pretty sure I breath through my mouth quite a bit and so far I've been temping orally. I'm kind of on the fence about switching to vaginally next month, but I'm leaning toward continuing to temp orally. I agree with DaisyCat that I don't know if I'm awake enough for it to be safe, ha ha! Also, I'm pretty sure I'd have a harder time falling back asleep.
I figure if I can see the temp shift, that's all that really matters. I don't need to have a super perfect looking chart. (And I'm a perfectionist!)
this. I fall back asleep sometimes with the therm in my mouth and the beep wakes me back up. I imagine the beep wouldn't phase me from down there and I'd just stay asleep with a therm in my vag until my next alarm goes off.
Yeah, I've given myself some pretty nasty vag stabs with my thermometer trying to put it in while half asleep.

I switched to vaginal after I heard it could be more consistent. I don't know if it was better because I wasn't Oing back then so I never got to see. But I found for my own comfort, I disliked vaginal temping. I am so out of it and half asleep in the morning, it's a pain to move the covers, and my short arms combined with the fact that I am stiff and often have a bit of a sore back in the morning it just wasn't good.
I find it much easier to just lay there, grab the therm, stick it in my mouth and often doze off to sleep while it's working. Plus I've still been able to see a clear temp shift from mouth temping.

ITA with everything DaisyCat said. Andplusalso... ouch on the vag stabs. So glad I can see a shift temping orally so I don't have to experience that!
