Movie Theater Popcorn question

I'm going to see "The Heat" tonight...would love to know what y'all think about eating movie theater popcorn...

I've read all over that it's not healthy, has fake butter, is popped w/cocunut oil, is high in sat. fat, it's high in calories, and all that.  But what if I just got a small or medium sized bag?

When I eat popcorn I eat the healthiest kind possible (pregnant or not). And I almost never go to the movies and have the opportunity to eat the popcorn there. But I reeeeallly want some!

Should I just give in to the craving since I never do it, and eat some in moderation? Or skip it altogether & sneak my own bag of "healthy" but not as good tasting popcorn in and eat that instead?

I have never heard anything specific to pregnancy about movie theatre popcorn, so I'm going to say it is no worse when pregnant than no pregnant.  My motto is everything in moderation!

  • I've never heard any negative comments.  Went to see Iron Man a few weeks ago and ate a medium popcorn all to myself!  It was freaking tasty!
  • Eat it, and share some with me because it sounds really good and I want some now.

Too funny - we drove by a cinema a few days ago and I could smell the popcorn.  I asked DH what the chances were that we could stop, park and run in to get some.  His response (such a man!) "can't you just make some at home?".

Well yes I can but it's not the same.....*sigh*

I worked at a theater in high school, and yes you can do that. It happened pretty frequently. And now I want some too!

That is a brilliant idea.. I can't imagine they'd stop you, all it would take is "I'm pregnant and if I don't have this popcorn I might die." This might be able to convince H to play along with..

  • Movie theater popcorn isn't necessarily good for you especially if you add lots of extra butter and the delicious flavored salt stuff, but it isn't pregnancy-bad.  And it's freaking delicious and an awesome snack when you go to a movie.  Get some! :)

Mmm, now I want movie theater popcorn-lol. I've never heard of it being a problem, I'm sure it's fine. I say enjoy it.
  • I split a medium bag with my sister last weekend when we went to see Monsters University. It was divine.

I haven't heard anything about it being necessarily bad during pregnancy [I mean, it's not smart to eat gobs and gobs of it, obviously, but still]...I'd eat it with no regrets again. :)

This! Coconut oil is very good for you. The only bad thing is it has a ton of extra calories ...but if your not indulging all the time it's not going to have any effect on you. Enjoy your movie and popcorn

  • As long as you're not throwing back large bags daily, go for it.

    Movie theater popcorn is amazing.
