Got the call...

Looks like we are doing a 3 day transfer instead of a 5 day. Should I be nervous that they changed it? I was pissed when I asked why it was moved up and the nurse had no answer! Didn't tell me any of the grading either and said I have to wait til tomorrow when I go for the transfer! Does this sound normal? Trying not to freak out!!! Could they make this process any more stressful?

2/13 - DH's SA was normal and OBGYN did BW on me to check ovulation - all was normal.  Went to RE in March 2013 at BIVF.  All BW was normal, estrogen a little high.  4/13 - HSG #1 - very painful and had spasms so suggested repeat of procedure.  5/13 - HSG #2 done by RE and both tubes are blocked :(  Per RE's recommendation - IVF cycle #1 in June 2013 w/ Follistim, Ganirelix, Ovidrel and Crinone.  BFP on 7/9/13 Beta #1 at 330.  Beta #2 at 895.  7/25/13 1st U/S at 6wk2d- it's TWINS!  Baby A 115bpm and Baby B 101bpm.

    Ugh!  From a post on 3T I think you are at the same clinic I am.  BIVF?  If so, I know that only the embryologist or RE are allowed to discuss grading.  Totally frustrating, but also better than being told incorrect information.  I would either call the embryology lab first thing in the AM (I think they are there for 7am) or call your nurse as soon as the office opens and tell the receptionist that you need to speak with your nurse now, not to transfer you to leave a message.  So sorry you are dealing with this!

    My RE told us that they would do a day 3 transfer if we only had one or two embryo's and therefore they would already know which ones they would be putting back in.

    We did a 3 day transfer.  They scheduled us for a 3 day and then called that morning to either confirm the transfer or push it to a 5 day.  My nurse who called that morning also didn't share the details of why it was a 3 day.  When we went in for the transfer we met with the embryologist.  She told us the grades and why she was recommending a 3 day transfer.  At our clinic, if there are 5 or less embryos at day 3 they go ahead with a transfer on day 3.  They were also concerned with how quickly some of the embryo's stopped growing, since we started with 14.  Even though we transferred 2 on day 3, we still ended up with 2 to freeze!  Good luck!

    My treatment center wanted five or more embryos still progressing to have a day five transfer. I'm sorry the nurse is calling you I have only talked to the RE or embryologist concerning my embryos. 
    Five IUI 's and two 3 day IVF transfers and two chemical pregnancies. Unknown to me at the time was that I was hypothyroid and had endometriosis. All that heartache and money and I would have never gotten pregnant. Time for new RE. New RE found the thyroid and endo. I had another 5 day transfer in April when all 7 embryos arrested on day four. Transferred three morali and didn't conceive. Thyroid function is excellent now. DH SCSA came back perfect. Now for IVF number four in June 2013. I had two perfectly expanded blasts put back and five frosties! I have never gotten this far! Now to wait for blood test on 6/26. My heart is In my throat! Please let this work, BFP with HPT 7 days and 8 days after transfer.

    Yes, I go to BIVF, you are correct! I definitely appreciate accurate information, I just wish they would have elaborated a little more. We had 10 fertilize out of 13 but I don't know how they're doing. It's my first cycle so I'm just a wreck and venting. Hopefully the news isn't too bad tomorrow. Thanks for your support!

    Try not to stress too much. My RE and DH both agreed 3dt was best for us before we started this  cycle. I was confused because I always heard 5dt was better, but remember that while 5dt helps weed some out, YOU are the best environment for your embies.

    Good luck tomorrow. I'm right there with you.

    I can't remember, but have you checked the IVF handbook through the website to see if it says anything like PP's were saying about needing a certain number of embryos to make it to a 5dt?  I'm not helpful with that as we did a freeze all cycle.  FX that all ends up well!
