Pregnant with TWINS!! And bad Morning Sickness

We went to our ultrasound yesterday thinking we were going in to confirm a MC, but to our surprise we not only saw 1 heartbeat but 2!! My husband and I were sooooooo excited we could barely contain ourselves!

My question to you guys is we are some good cures for morning sickness and all day nausea? I have been very miserable!

  • Welcome and Congrats! Check with your OB first, but the best treatment for my n&v was Unisom and B6. Prescription medications did not work for me.

    And Zofran. Lots Of Zofran!

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • Congrats!

I also used the Unisom and B6 combo.  I threw up every single day for the entire pregnancy but only once in the morning and then I was only mildly nauseous for the rest of the day.

    Good luck!

  • Ok thanks for all the suggestions. My Dr. said we would talk about a prescription on Monday at my appt. It just sucks because I go from one extreme to the next extremely nauseous then craving something to eat, then when I eat it's back to feeling nauseous again. I just hope it's not like this the whole time.

  • Congrats and welcome!  I hope for your sake you're not as bad as I was.  I'll be 19 weeks on Friday and I am just now starting to feel better. From 9-17 weeks I threw up multiple times a day, every. single. day.  SUCKED.  Zofran only helped in the afternoon when I was only nauseous.  If I took it in the morning most times that came back up too.  And that is no fun.  Drink as much water as possible.  I had to go in to the ER twice for fluids.  B6 and Unisom didn't really work for me either.  Although I slept a lot better.

But the good news is everyone is different, hopefully you'll be a lucky ones!

  • If u want a natural remedy try ginger... I used raw ginger coated In Sugar from the health food store. I eventually needed a prescription for zofran because I was so sick... Congrats and good luck! It has been a wild ride so far!

SeaBands and always having something in my stomach helped me.  Feel better!

I had the same thing.  If I had to think about what to eat it wasn't going to happen, but my darling, sweet hubby took over cooking and would put something in front of me and I'd be able to eat.  I did use peppermint essential oils.  My OB used them herself when she was pregnant.  All I'd do is put 1 drop on the back of my hand and then lick it off.  (on a side note, my sinuses had never been that clear!) After using it many times a day for many days it got to the point that the smell of peppermint made me sick, so don't overdo it like I did.  It works well for about 2 hours, for me at least.  I think you can get them at any health food store.  That's where I got mine.  Buy a small bottle, they last forever.  I didn't try the Unisom B6 combo, when I finally learned about it the nausea was ceasing and I didn't need it.  (by the way, Unisom is the same a Benadryl.  Same main ingredient, Diphenhydramine)

Also, some good news, the nausea may go away when you enter your second trimester.  It did for me.  Now though I suffer from headaches.  Good luck, and Congrats!!!!!

    Not right. It's doxylamine.

  • Congratulations and welcome! I had pretty normal ms. Lots of nausea but no vomiting and a ton of food and smell aversions. For me listening to cravings and keeping some food in my stomach seemed to really help.

  • I took zofran for nausea from day one to delivery! I'm also making sure to fill all of my refills until they run out - trust me on this one. When they get bigger and they have a stomach bug and you're NOT pregnant. We now use it so that we can take it when everyone else is puking. Zofran can make a big difference in Mommy and Daddy not having to feel horrid while they're cleaning up all the vomit. (This may be one of my best Mommy tricks.)
