This is my first month temping (amongst everything else TTC-related) and I keep forgetting to take my temperature in the AM before getting up. I keep it on my nightstand and sometimes put it on top of my phone (alarm) at night to remind myself but, lo & behold, I forget in the AM. Of course I still take it after I get up (& get coffee, etc) and realize I forgot but by then its pretty much too late, isn't it? I don't even think it'd make sense to record it at that point. Or does it? I'm just frustrated with myself for forgetting such a seemingly simple thing. A this point I've forgotten two days in a row now and its (what I believe to be) a crucial day in my cycle for recording it. ![]()
Does it become more of a habit over time?
Re: Mad at myself- temping
It is too late after you get up and move around. I will say it does become a habit over time. I know when my alarm goes off even on the weekends that temping is the first thing that I do. What if you set your alarm a little earlier? Maybe by looking at the time you will know it's not to get up, but for temping purposes. And maybe even set a different ring tone to that alarm.
Hopefully it gets easier for you!

I hear you, OP. Been there, done that. It does become more of a habit and, honestly, this past weekend was the first time i woke up naturally at my regular wake up time, took a temp, and then fell back asleep. But i'm on month 3 so it took a while to become a habit - most weekends, i wasn't taking it because i would be waking up several hours past normal and i was worried it wasn't accurate then.
I agree with PPs - it's probably not accurate when you take it that much later but i'm still of the opinion that you should write down the numbers and see what you can see. I'm kicking myself for not taking a temp on the weekends, whether 'accurate' or not.
Some things i do that help - keep my phone right next to my head on my bed and my thermometer right next to that. They're both there so that i remember what to do first thing in the morning.
Good luck!
