Trying to Get Pregnant

Intro and Fertility Supplements

Hey Ladies!

Ive been lurking for about a week and figured I would introduce myself. Im 22 and Ive been a critical care RN for a year. My fiance (35 and restuarant owner) and I are NTNP and plan on TTC in Sept (a month before our wedding. I wanna get a head start:)). I was wondering what you guys think about some of those all natural fertility aids? Are you taking any? Which ones are you taking? Why did you choose the one you are taking? I was wanting to try one so that we have the best chance of conceiving the first cycle. If we are able to do so wed be far enough along to announce it on a big family vacation with both our families present.

TIA for your input:)

  • Not taking any fertility supplements, but I take a prenatal vitamin. I also eat healthy, and I cut back on my caffeine.

On a side note - do you enjoy doing critical care? I'm thinking of at some point going into psychiatric nursing.

On a side side note - Also getting a very head start. (Not quite yet) dear husband (but we still call each other husband and wife in private) and I are getting married May 4th, 2014 (may the fourth be with you...) We just decided we didn't want to wait to get married to have a baby.

  • The only thing I did prior to TTC was to start taking a prenatal vitamin and charting my cycles/BBT. I had been doing that to avoid getting pregnant for awhile anyway.

  • I'm just finishing up nursing school now!  How do you like critical care?

Right now I only take a prenatal vitamin but I am curious about other supplements too.  I'm currently on CD 53 with no period and no BFP.  I've been off the pill for a year almost and my cycles usually run around 50 days so this is even late for me.

Me: 30 yrs (PCOS), DH: 28 yrs (SA normal)
    June 19, 2008: Started dating
    August 12, 2012: Got married
September 2012: Came off BC pills after 12 yrs
September 2012-May 2013: Irregular periods (every 45-55 days), no positives on OPKs, used fertility friend
May 2013: Started actively TTC, talked to OB about irregular periods and possible anovulation
October 2013: HSG all clear, hormone levels normal, U/S showed polycystic ovaries, PCOS diagnosis
February 2014: Clomid 50mg days 4-8, many follicles on CD14 but none bigger than 8mm
March 2014: Switched to RE, saline u/s all clear
April 2014: 3hr glucose showed IR, started on Metformin 1000mg/day, put on low-carb low-sugar diet
    June 2014: Femara 2.5mg x10 on CD3, 19mm follicle on CD17, Ovidrel, TI, Endometrin suppositories = BFP!!!

Our little one due March 11, 2015

  • Well GL to you! I love critical care! I think the 12 hr shifts will be difficult if we are successful TTC just because most daycares dont stay open that late but well work it out when the time comes.
