"absolutely no presents"

when you see this on an invitation do you really bring no present whatsoever? it feels so weird to show up empty-handed but i dont want to ignore their request either. curious what others do, i've heard of instances where people didn't bring a present but then everybody else did anyhow.

If I saw that on an invite I wouldn't take a gift.  I'd probably still take a card though.

I would take one leave it in the car and only bring it in if others had:) I am a big follower that way!

Depends on what the invite is for (birthday, anniversary, housewarming, etc).  I would still take a gift...even if it is a small plant (for an adult) or book (for a child).

What kind of event is it?  I might buy something and wrap it but leave it in the car.  If I saw that others brought something then I'd go grab it.  If no one did, then I'd leave it there and either save it for another occasion or return it.

For a first birthday I would absolutely show up with a gift.  How could you not bring a gift to a child's first birthday?!?!?!?!

For a 1st b-day, I would definitely still bring a present.

I was told the same thing for a 1st Bday, we brought a card and but in a Barnes and Noble gift card in it.  There was a huge stack of gifts so I am glad that we brought something.  But if no one else does, then it is descreet since it is in the card.
