In her own room

Tonight we're trying to put dd in her own room now that we have a second glider in there so far it seems ok! She's such a light sleeper that when my husband sneezes I want to smother him with a pillow so this would be great if it works. I have the video monitor in and I'm sleeping on the couch just outside fingers crossed. And the soother fell out but she's still asleep woo! Has anyone done this yet? How was the transition and how long did it last?

Re: In her own room

  • I slept on an air mattress in DS's room for the first week he was in his crib. He was totally fine, I think mama just wasn't quite ready. The video monitor is so wonderful though now that we're both in our own beds. I can see him breathing on it and there's no reason to go check unless he's up and ready to eat. GL!

  • LO's room is just 3 short steps outside of ours and he does amazing! IT does take 15-20 minutes at night to get him finally asleep, but hopefully we can change that soon.

I know that I was checking in on him every few hours when we first started, but I had nothing to worry about. He sleeps a lot better in his own room than with us (I'm sure either me or my DH snore from time to time and that could have been waking him up).

I could have written this same thing! And for us the transition just sort of happened, otherwise I still am not ready for it Lol

  • I started putting LO in her room at around 4 weeks. I wasn't getting any sleep so I just moved her RNP in there. Now everyone sleeps much better!
  • She did awful!! We were up prettying every hour. I don't quite know what to do differently but I guess we will just stick with it and see!

This.. And now he sleeps in his crib. The rnp is in the Livingroom in case he's fussier.. I can put him in there and he doesn't bother my 2 year old. Surprisingly neither one of them wakes the other up when they cry at night.

  • Update: it's getting better! Today she started rolling onto her tummy from her back, and I put her down for a nap without rocking her to sleep AND she got herself to sleep!!!! I hope it's all up from here!
  • We moved our DD to her crib at the beginning of last week she outgrew her bassinet so we figured it was time, and honestly I don't even thing she noticed the difference.... She wakes up once to feed and continues to sleep through out the night.

It's always hard to leave her there though, and I'm always worried that the room will be too hot or too cold.... But she is doing great!
