Pouch Coupon

I noticed a couple of other people posting how expensive the pouches are and I wanted to let everyone know about a coupon that makes them free. Google Krazy Coupon Lady then search for Beech Nut. The coupon is for 1 off per pouch and Walmart sells them for .98. I copied the crap out of the coupon and use multiple ones. They don't care at the store I shop at. HTH!

Re: Pouch Coupon

  • Did you copy the coupon, like literally copied it with a copy machine?

PLEASE oh please tell me that's not what you meant because that's coupon fraud and really sad. And illegal.

    (I take couponing REALLY seriously.)

Yes, it's illegal and can get you a prison sentence of 3 to 5 years and fines up to 20,000.

Wait, really? All the retail and grocery stores I worked for would do that FOR their customers. My 2 local DDs do it, too. I'm super amazed right now.

Um, yes, coupon fraud is a real thing. It also costs stores a lot of money because Beech Nut only reimburses for the first coupon, not any of the copies.

I honestly never had a clue about this. At various stores I've worked for, they took copies and made copies, did whatever they could to please the customer because they wanted the repeat business.

But that makes sense that the manufacturer would only reimburse for the first coupon.

Random thought. Is it manufacturer coupons only, or does that apply to store coupons as well?

    Whoa!

I guess the difference would be store coupons because they aren't going to a manufacturer to be reimbursed.

But I would never copy a store coupon. That would be up for the store to do it. I'm sorta thinking about that Michael's 40 percent off coup that is in every newspaper flier. They pretty much give everyone that deal, so they will copy or give out extras.

  • FWIW, Walmart is a great place to use this coupon [legally] since you will get the overage applied to other things in your basket, making two cents per pouch [especially if your state doesn't tax food].

I love starting my day with a tale of coupon fraud!

    truth.

Question, I totally get that copying the coupon bad...but I wonder how the manufacturers tell the difference between a coupon that is submitted as a copy, v one that is the print original. Is there like a count of how many originals there are?

I don't know a whole lot about couponing, and really only use them when they show up for products I already buy on the regular, so I've got no clue.  I just know that I have seen some women at work who subscribe to those coupon sites print multiple copies and share with friends. I am assuming this is much like what the OP is describing and frowned upon, no?

You can print most coupons twice. They will have separate serial numbers and thus are two legit coupons.
Copying would end up with one serial number on a bunch of copies and that is totally illegal. On most printable coupons there is a verification number in the top right.

The coupon generators for the coupons you print online (like from SmartSource) put a different number on each coupon, so each is unique. Most coupons can be printed twice from SmartSource (it will generate coupons with two different numbers) and if you have another computer in the house, you can use that one to also print two copies of a coupon (again, each will have a different number). So if you're getting multiples of coupons that way, that's legit. Printing an internet coupon off once and photocopying it -- that's not ok.

For the pp who was asking about store coupons -- if the store makes the copies or accepts copies, that's fine because it's the store itself that's giving you the discount. The problem is with photocopied manufacturer's coupons where the store won't get reimbursed by the manufacturer.

I don't understand how a store would even accept a photocopied version. I've always thought you could only use the true printed or clipped kind.

I have made a copy (did not realize it was illegal please don't get arrested for coupon fraud! I promise I didn't know and now feel very terrible!) and you cannot tell the difference between the printed and the copied coupon.

  • I'm sorry I posted the OP. I didn't realize it was coupon fraud and certainly didn't intend for anyone else to commit coupon fraud. I also shouldn't have said I copied the crap out of it because I made 20 copies and used maybe 10 total between 3 different stores, not that that makes it legal. I certainly don't find it "sad" for a working mom doing the best to support her family and save some money. Sorry again.

FTFY - Lose the condescension when you are apologizing. Own it or not, just don't be an azz when you apologize.

Yeah, really. Why come back at all to "apologize" if you don't mean it?

I hate when people apologize the wrong way.

I do mean it. Not sure why it's coming across that I don't. I didn't mean to cheat stores out of money and thought about going over there and offering to pay it back. I guess I don't come across well in writing.

  • Your apology had come off as one of those "I'm sorry you caught me doing ____ vs. I'm sorry I did ____." if that makes sense.

    No harm done.
