So this is my first month trying so of course I have gotten my hopes. AF is due Friday, tested yesterday and Sunday with BFNs. YES, I know I should be just waiting to see if she shows up on Friday but I'm impatient so I wanted to hear other peoples' stories. A friend of mine who has a 4 month old said she couldn't turn a test positive until a day or two after the missed period, and another friend with two little ones said she got BFPs early.

Re: At the risk of people getting irritated with me...
I don't have any stories because we haven't gotten our bfp yet. But it's really all about how many days past ovulation (DPO) you are. Your friend who couldn't get a positive until two days after a missed period probably ovulated later than usual and therefore the period was also longer than normal. Your other friend might have ovulated early and been able to test "sooner" because of this. Who knows?
Do you know how many DPO you are? Have you been charting your temps?

Since this is the first month I did no temping or anything mostly because I didn't know anything about it. Don't have a FF account either because, again, didn't know anything about it until I started doing different research and reading posts on this site. So I don't know how many DPO I am exactly. I can guess it's around 10-11 but who knows.
If you do happen to get pregnant during any given cycle, when you get your BFP really depends on two things:
When you ovulated. If you ovulated later that particular cycle, you would get the positive test later than you would have expected.
On the other hand, it also depends on when the fertilized egg implants. Some implant later, some earlier. That's why some ladies who chart are able to turn a test as early as 9DPO, and others don't turn a test until 12 or 13DPO.
That's exactly it, I'm just super impatient, haha. I'm hoping for it not to take long but I also have a friend who's going through some trouble at 25, so who knows how it will be. I'll definitely begin temping next cycle to get a better idea.

The problem with these stories is, if these women don't know when they ovulated, then they don't know when their period was due and they can't say for sure whether they got a positive two days after their missed period or not.
My story, my first pregnancy I "think" I got a positive around 11 or 12 DPO, but I only went by OPKs, I wasn't temping that cycle so I can't be sure. The second time I got my positive at 9DPO.
I've only had one successfully charted cycle that didn't result in a BFP, and my LP was 10 days, but one cycle isn't enough to say that that is my typical LP. But if it is, then I guess you could say with my first pregnancy I tested positive a day or two after my missed period, and with my second, two days before.
