Hello ladies!
I just did my 19 week scan at MFM for my mono/di twins and the doctor said everything looked good but they don't like the size difference to be more than 20 and he told me mine are at 16 so ill go back in two weeks to have this looked at. Have anyone else experienced this with their mono/di twins I didn't know if it was an early sign of TTTS.
He also said that there were two strong heartbeats but he couldn't find one o the valves in their hearts but that could be because of how small they are.
I'm a tad worried, id like to think is anything was seriously wrong they would have had me stay.
Re: Twin different size
At 15 weeks my mono/dis showed an 18% difference, at which point I was referred to an MFM for biweekly growth scans and TTTS monitoring. Throughout the rest of the pregnancy they wavered between 10 and 20% discordant....so just on the border of worrisome....but their fluid levels, Dopplers, bladders, etc. always looked good. At 35 weeks 4 days they measured 24% different and the MFM decided that I'd have my C/S that day just to be safe. They were born healthy and just needed 6 days in the hospital to make sure their weights stabilized. They are happy and healthy almost 6-month-olds today!
So that's my story. While a growth discordance certainly can be an early sign of TTTS and absolutely should be monitored, it doesn't mean that it absolutely will turn into something serious. It sounds like your MFM is on top of it, so that is the most important thing. Try to not worry too much (hard advice to take, I know....I worried like crazy, esp. at the beginning). Wishing you a healthy and uneventful rest of your pregnancy!
