Well, Bennett was born on the 4th, but I am only now just getting around to writing his birth story. Better late than never right?
I was actually due on the 3rd and went to the dr. that day. They gave me a NST and the nurse informed me that I was actually having contractions about 8-10 minutes apart. Of course, I felt none of this. I asked the nurse if that meant I was going to have the baby soon and she said "well... maybe." When I left they scheduled me for another appointment the following week and my induction for the 13th.
Later that night, I thought I started to feel some of my contractions. I half convinced myself that it was all in my head though, and went to bed. I slept like a rock and woke up about 9 hours later. Then I was SURE I was feeling contractions. My H decided to work from home- which was a smart move. I called the dr, and she said when they reach the 5-1-1 call back and then head to the hospital. I labored at home until about 3:30pm. Then H and I headed to the hospital.
When I got there, for some reason, I refused to get in a wheelchair- that was dumb. I had at least two contractions while I was walking to the check-in desk for L&D and had to stop in the middle of the hallway. When I finally made it to check in, I was put in triage and they checked me out- 4cm! But it was shift change, so I was kinda stuck in triage for almost 2 hours while they got everything situated for my actual delivery room. The room was hot, and that sucked. By the time I got back to the delivery room, I was checked again and I was at 7cm. An hour later, I was at 9! The dr. came in and they broke my water, and then it was pushing time! I pushed for an hour and then Bennett was here! He was 9 pounds 1 oz (!!!) and 20 inches long, born at 9:45PM.
I am really proud that we did the whole thing totally natural with no drugs. Also, I am really proud of my H. He was an amazing coach and kept me completely calm throughout the entire process. I didn't yell or scream at all actually- the dr, the nurse and the med student all said that they had never seen anything like it. I really couldn't have done it without the amazing support of all of the people there.
Bennett is a little over two weeks old now, and we absolutely adore him. Being a mother is greater than I ever thought it would be.
ETA: birth stats.

My Ovulation Chart
Honestly, I don't really know. We did take a Lamaze type class offered at the hospital and that helped with the breathing through it part. But labor and pushing I just treated like a workout set. I focused on the breaks the whole time. I never let myself think about the next contraction and during contractions I just thought about the coming break. The dr and nurse counted to 10 really loudly during pushing so I just focused on the numbers. And I made my H talk to me during all the early stuff that helped a lot. My H was amazing during the whole thing so that helped too.
