Seperation Anxiety

So my 2 1/2 year old started a dance class this week and she is freaking out if I step away from her. I have tried to wait out in the waiting area and once she realizes that I'm gone she comes screaming after me.. I realize that it is the first week of class but she goes to daycare and does fine when I drop her off.  I am a teacher so I am home during the summer.  We have been having issues with her flipping out with our babysitter too...  Any suggestions?

How many dance classes has she had so far? Have you waited out the crying and does she eventually calm down? I kind of think that sticking around at all may make the anxiety worse than if you were gone altogether.

^ True more often than not. I've been the instructor. Worst case I ever had was a kid who cried so bad he got a nose bleed. The next lesson he only cried for 10 mins. The lesson after and the ones after that he was totally into it. What can you do?!
