I know this is a pointless post but I am so irritated with names right now!

Our FN is Hanna. We have been trying to get a middle name with meaning for us realting to my late father and his love for fishing. We have had some fantastic advice on the board but are getting no where. Middle names I love but DON"t work are.

Hanna Mina

Hanna Lana

Hanna Kai

They sound like horrid smoosh names to me. UGH. Other girls names we like but not as much as Hanna are.. Natalie, Abigail, Allison and Molly. Oh well. End Rant.

I don't know any girl names that relate to fishing, but I just wanted to say I love the name Hannah. If DS had been a girl, he likely would have been Hannah Faith. I'm kind of sad we're done at two, because now I'll never get my Hannah Faith.

Honestly? I think it's time to give up the love of fishing angle, and either go with a name that's somehow related to your dad's name (first initial, similar sound, etc) or find another way to honor him.

I just looked up some names of fish and there actually is a fish called "Molly"... so Hanna Molly maybe?  I agree with the others, maybe think of a special place he liked to go fishing or use something from his name/initial.

I sort of agree that maybe the criteria just doesn't work. Do you really want a "meaningful" name you dont like? Is there no other way to honor your dad?

It would really depend on the last name.

My cousin has a daughter named Maren and said it means of the sea or something.  I think Hanna Maren works... not sure of the original spelling, if its with an E or I.  Love the name Hanna, but also love Natalie.  Good luck!

Is there a way to incorporate your father's name?  Or may your maiden name.  I understand that you are trying to incorporate his love for fishing in particular, but that doesn't seem to be working out with Hannah.

Hanna Kai sounds like Malachi to me haha. I know you ladies are right about needing to find a new way to honor him. I just hate to let this idea go. Thank you so much.
