Grabs Himself

My son is 9 1/2 months old and he has started grabbing himself at EVERY diaper change. He just plays with it, and sometimes just grabs the whole thing (it and its two friends) and just pulls it. I know little boys start playing with it at some point, but this seems really young to me as a FTM. I am worried it could be bothering him (like playing with their ears could be a sign of ear infection). Should I be worried that he is too young to be doing this? TIA

My son does the same thing. His pediatrician said it's completely normal. He "has just figured out it's there."

Yup it's just what boys do. It's definitely not a sexual thing yet though, it's just exploring their bodies. My DH said it's kind of instinctual to grab it whenever it's exposed, especially in different temperatures. Just ignore it unless he seems to be hurting himself.

Yep, normal. DS grabs his penis every time it's available. He sticks his fingers in his ears, too. It's just a body part, at this point. One that is mostly covered up. Of course he'll grab at it when he can!

DS does the same, I think it is just a new toy he discovered in a convenient location.

It's normal.  He's fine.  I wouldn't worry about it unless it seems red or otherwise irritated.

My kid now gets a boner every time he takes a shower.  He points at it and laughs hysterically. Such is life with little boys!

my son does the same thing, and gets HUGE erections!  Totally normal.

My LO pulls on it pretty hard sometimes, I think it looks like it would hurt! I asked DH, he said nope it won't hurt.

Normal but watch and see if it is red.  My DS has been on antibiotics for an ear infection.  Which in turn caused a yeast infection in his diaper region. So when he was playing and pulling himself, he was actually scratching the itchyness of the infection.  So as long as it all looks normal, then the playing is normal.

Oh yes, completely normal.  Mine are 11 months and DS figured out he's a boy at about 9 months.  He plays with it in the tub and at diaper changes.  Mine mostly just flicks it.  I'm not sure what that's about. 

If it makes you feel better, DD figured out she's a girl about a month ago and she plays with herself sometimes too.  It's very seldom when she does it.
