Double Stroller recommendations

Good afternoon ladies.

This is my first time posting on this board, but I'm a regular on Pregnant after IF. I'm 20 weeks with twins (boy/girl) from IVF w/ICSI

We are working on our registry and I was wondering if anyone could give me their recommendations/feedback on a good double stroller in the $250 or less price range. We have 2 Chicco KeyFit 30 car seats if that makes a difference. The stroller does not have to be compatible with the car seats, but would great if it was!

TIA!

We have the exact same car seats and we got the Chicco Cortina Together stroller to use with them bc they snap in and also grow with the babies once they are out of their infant seats. I think the cost was around 300 though.

  • We have the Maclaren Twin Techno stroller.  Even through we purchased it in 2009 we still use it for our almost 4 year olds.  We love that when they were new born the seats could lay back almost flat and now they sit to whatever angle they like.  The harnesses are completely adjustable too.  It was a purchase that was about 350, but we have been using it forever so it paid off.

  • I also have the MacLaren and really like it. We used the double snap n go with our Chicco car seats for about a year. Once they were out of the infant seats, we originally had a big front and back graco duoglider. It is similar to the Chicco stroller that can accept infant car seats. We used it for daycare drop offs and pick ups and I HATED it. The MacLaren is so much lighter and easier to use and fold. It also fits in my trunk way better.

In short, I would use the Snap n go, and then just pick a double stroller that suits your needs best for once they're out of the infant seats.
  • We have a Joovy X2 - it doesn't hold the infant carseats. We used a DSNG for the first few months and now use the Joovy. It's about $225.

  • Also, I wanted to add that when it comes to strollers, don't be afraid of getting things second hand. You can get some great things for cheap! If you're looking to save some money, definitely look into it. Congratulations and good luck!
  • I have the Baby Jogger City Select.  It's a bit pricey but I will never have to buy another stroller.

It's super durable which is good because my DS is a moose!  DD is also trying to test it's limits and so far it has held up to both.

It's heavy and it's kinda big but I am serious when I say it is well worth it.

  • I got a used mountain buggy urban elite duo(?) off craigslist forn$200 and LOVE it. I use the dsng for quick trips b/c it is evil to steer and see around, but still handy when babies are sleeping. The mountain buggy is awesome!! I usually use it with one twin and the 2 year old and use a baby carrier for the other twin...but that thing can steer so well and it fits through doorways. It is heavy and bulky, but I hear that most doubles are, and it is a price I am.willing to pay.for its awesomness!
  • We use the Contours Optima Tandem stroller with the car seat adapters most of the time and love it.  We have also have the Joovy X2 as our side by side now that they are getting a little older.

    Good Luck!  :)

We have the Contours Optima as well, and love it! It's $289 on Amazon, but I know Burlington carries it and sells it for $199. My two love being able to face each other. It's light for a double stroller and maneuvers really easily.  We bought ours new, but I have seen them on Craigslist recently.

This is the one that I've been leaning towards for a while now. But someone told me there was a recall on it recently. So I didn't know if I should change me mind. I love the idea of being able to change which direction they each face and being able to have them face each other.

There was a recall on the Options tandem stroller, not the Optima.  We purchased ours new at the end of the year last year, registered it, and have never been informed of a recall.  I didn't see anything about a recall on the Optima when I googled it either.

  • I'm glad to hear the good reviews on the maclaren double!  I just bought it, because I love my maclaren single for DS. We are also going to get a snap n go for while they are really small.
