Stanford REI girls

Did you take the IUI or IVF orientation class?  They really recommended that DH and I attend.  I thought of not going because we've been doing IF treatments for 17 months already, I was kind of figuring that they probably won't tell me anything new.  But, alas, the nurses convinced me to go.  So, what can I expect?

And - a random vent - why is the class on a Tuesday from 11-1???  Uhm, hello???  I live 2 hours away and why is it right in the middle of the day???  Just sounds rediculous to me!  So, now, DH and I have to take off not just a morning but a whole freaking day!  Well, maybe we can hit some shops downtown while we're there?  Just trying to look at the bright side!  : )

Re: Stanford REI girls

  • Sprinkles is in the Stanford Shopping center and Kara's is across in Town and Country.  I think it sounds like cupcakes will be in order.

  • We were fast tracked with my treatment so we missed the orientation. I really regret it. I felt totally in the dark because Stanford is its own world and navigating their medical system isn't always a picnic. My vote is to take it and make the most of it. BTW.. in the Stanford shopping center there is a little grocery store Signolas (sp?). They had the BEST fresh fruit and veggies. I use to stop by on the way home and pick up some goodies. The fresh pineapple can't hurt when it comes time for possible implantation. :)

My only Stanford class feedback is that I thought the injectable class stunk. We got a much better lesson from the pharmacist at DiscoRX.

  • I thought the orientation was very helpful and made me much more comfortable with doing my own injections and understanding Stanford's processes. That's unfortunate about the time - I think when I took it they held it 1st thing in the morning. But I hate to say, with it being two hours away for you, you will be missing a lot of time from work in general. Does your work know you're going through treatments? If you have a good relationship with your boss, you might want to have a talk with him/her. There were times when I was going in every other day for monitoring. I love Stanford Shopping Center - and the new Sprinkles is yummy so you can get a nice treat before or after class.

  • Oh, Kara's is yummy too - I keep trying both to decide which one I like better, but am still doing research to reach my verdict :-)
