Trying to Get Pregnant

question about ovulation test

I lurked here a long time ago, and now I have a question, and you were the first people I thought I can ask because I'm not discussing TTC in real life.

Yesterday I got a positive on the  clear blue easy ovulation test, but when I ejected it, there was an error message.  A test later in the day was negative.  I'd like to think there couldn't be a false positive on one of these tests, but I just don't know.  What do you think.  Thanks so much!

Re: question about ovulation test

  • They don't say anything about an error message after the result has been given and the stick is ejected.  They only address the possible causes of an error message given in lieu of an actual positive or negative result.

  • Some people have shorter surges than others so it is definitely possible to have only 1 positive OPK in a day and it still be correct. Or, you could have had diluted urine that made it hard to pick up the surge later in the day.  Did you hold it for 4 hours? Did you drink a lot of water? The more concentrated your urine is the easier it is for the test to pick up the hormone if it is present. Good luck!

  • It sounds like you re-inserted a used test stick and now are getting an error?  It's positive if it was positive before you ejected it. You can't re-insert it after it has been peed on.

I've had short surges... it happens.
