3rd Trimester

similarities between measurements and delivery date

mainly for those who already have children:

If you were measuring early, late, or just right, did it correspond to when you when into L&D or not?

For instance, measuring 2 weeks early and giving birth at 37-38 weeks. Or measuring a week behind and giving birth at 41 weeks.

Re: similarities between measurements and delivery date

  • I am sure this isn't the answer you want, but the doctors "estimate" and the variable is 2 lbs plus or minus. So this could equate to 2 weeks early or late.

  • I think OP is talking about fundal height measurements, not u/s weights. Either way, I wouldn't invest too much in their accuracy. Everyone experiences every pregnancy differently.

  • I always measured right on the dot with my first and I delivered her at 37weeks3days.  With this pregnancy I'm measuring exactly the same.  Only time will tell if I go early again.

  • I measured 3 weeks ahead for a good part of my 3rd trimester, and delivered DS 5 days after my DD.

  • Baby could be laying weird and that's what gives the measurement of early or late. I can't really answer since my last and this c/s are scheduled at 38w. I can say that Lucas was measuring 40w at the last appointment and they guesstimated him to be 8.5lbs. He was 7lbs exactly.

  • With my first two I measured right on track, and was induced at 39 weeks with both. Fundal heights are no true measure of when you'll go into labor.

  • I was measuring 53 weeks with my first.  Wink

  • I measured two weeks ahead.  I had my baby a week late, naturally went into labor.  She was only 6lbs 14oz.  It was mostly because I was carrying her so high.  Sometimes you carry the baby in a way that gets the measurements off a little. They thought the baby was going to be bigger, but she wasn't!
  • DD consistently measured 2 weeks behind. She came at 39w2d, on her own accord. Turns out she was just little and had her own agenda. Rings true for her to this day!

  • We've been measuring behind (just got up to the 11th percentile) and my LO will be coming early--about 38 wks.

  • I've measured 4 weeks ahead pretty consistently with every pregnancy towards the end and delivered right around my due date, or 5 days early on the ones I was induced with.
    Due with #5 April 22, 2015. It's a girl!!!!!

Yes it was planned, yes we know what causes that, no we are not on public assistance, and yes we will be getting cable after this. ;)
