So while we're at it...

Good baked beans recipe? I like them spicy without bacon if possible...or at least just a little.

Easy slaw recipe? I hate slaw, but people seem to love it. I might skip slaw and make a watermelon/feta/arugula salad.

Re: So while we're at it...

  • I don't have a baked bean recipe but the watermelon salad sounds SOO much better than slaw, but I also hate slaw.

  • Two votes for skipping slaw I'm down with it.

The watermelon salad could not be easier. I get a bag of baby arugula, cut up some fresh watermelon, throw in some crumbled feta, olive oil, white balsamic or regular if I don't have white, salt and pepper. It's so good with grilled things.

  • That watermelon salad sounds great for summer. I'm not a huge fan of slaw, but I do like it with an Asian salad dressing instead of the mayo type stuff. I still say go with the salad though.

The watermelon salad spuds similar to a salad I made with our burgers the other night. It's honeydew melon. Cucumber , feta cheese tossed in olive oil and red wine vinegar. It was soooo good.

  • This is the way my family has always done baked beans.  I would recommend going easy on the molasses depending in your choice of BBQ sauce.  These aren't spicy, just a flavorful, basic southern-style baked beans.  Sure you could adapt it to have some spice though.

  • My gram uses ground beef in her bake beans recipe.  She also uses a little bacon.  They are SO yummy.  I could eat the whole crockpot.  LOL
