3rd Trimester

Low Lying Placenta Still... Ultrasound Tomorrow

I have had several ultrasounds throughout this pregnancy that show a low lying placenta.  It was just on the border of what my practice considers safe last time (I want to say 2.5mm but don't quote me).  I had a c/s last time because LO was breech and it wasn't terrible so I am mentally preparing that it could go that way this time as well.  Anyone else in the same position?  Anyone have a vaginal delivery anyway?

Re: Low Lying Placenta Still... Ultrasound Tomorrow

  • Same boat. I had an us on Wed and won't find out until Friday how far it's moved, if any. Although I know it's still low. My OB says they want anything over 2 but will likely let me labor under supervision with as close to 1.5 since most at that distance do just fine. I have a feeling it'll be a down to the wire decision. I've prepared myself for either scenario.
Good luck! Here's hoping these pesky placentas get their act straight!!

  • You mean 2.5 cm, not mm.

Mine finally resolved itself, but I juuuuuust made the cut off.  As in my moved to 26 mm (or 2.6 cm) and my OB's cut off is 25 mm (2.5 cm)

  • Last time mine was far enough away by 32 weeks for a vaginal delivery.

  • Thanks ladies!

  • Mine is low lying, but I don't get another u/s until 36 weeks so I won't know until then if it's resolved or not.

  • Well the placenta has moved quite a bit, past 2 inches from what I guess was 2.5 cm last time.  I have mixed feelings- my c/s last time was not bad and now I need to come to terms with actually having to go into labor :)
