Just noticing a pattern in naps...

I probably shouldn't write this b/c I'll jinx myself, but I've just this week noticed a pattern emerging in K's naps. Like literally the day he turned 12 weeks old and the "fourth trimester" ended.

He's up around 630 or 7 give or take and will go down for a 45 min nap around 9.

Longer nap around 12 or 1230 (which I usually have to help him transition through the first sleep cycle) that last from 2-3 hours and then another shorter 45 min nap around 5 or so. Bedtime at 8.

I love knowing what to expect! Anyone else notice this around 12 weeks too?

Re: Just noticing a pattern in naps...

  • We are starting a very similar pattern here too in the past week or so (she's 14 weeks).  It's so nice knowing what to expect and be able to somewhat plan the best times to get out of the house.  I've been trying very hard to get DD#2's long nap at DD#1's afternoon nap time so I can have a few hours to get things done.

Unfortunately our swing broke and now I'm stuck sitting on the couch pushing it for two hours every afternoon because she wakes up the second it stops and will only sleep for 45 minutes in her crib.  On the bright side, I've burned through almost two seasons of Fringe on Netflix in the past two weeks which I'm rather proud of:)

Let's cross our fingers they keep it up!

naptimes range from 45 minutes to 2.5 hours. Naps are 2-2.5 hours from awake from last nap  Usually one long nap, and two shorter naps but it really varies when the long nap takes places.  If the first nap is long, there's a good chance the second nap will be longer. If the first nap Is short, she will usually fuss around the sleep cycle of the second nap, or will stay awake for 20 minutes before falling back asleep.

So there's SOME sort of pattern. I kind of let her get up whenever shew ants (never earlier than 545 and never later than 730) since she STTN.
