3rd Trimester

too much fluid?

I went for an ultrasound yesterday because I wasn't feeling the baby move as much.  So the doctor wanted to be safe.  I have too much fluid which explains why I am not feeling her as much.  She swims around a lot.  From my research it could mean something and it could mean nothing.  I go back to the doctor Tuesday so has anyone had any experience with this?

Also, they said the baby is measuring 8 lbs 3 oz already.  I still have 10 days to go so I am nervous about having a huge baby! I know it can be up to 2 lbs off....what is everyone's experiences?

Thank you!!!

Re: too much fluid?

  • I had "a lot" of fluid with DD1 and she is totally fine. Had 2 US techs mention it but my OB was like, "Your good!" and we were. :) Never an issue. And the sizes are totally inaccurate and usually higher than anticipated. I wouldn't concern yourself too much with either.

Congrats on your impending arrival! :)

  • I had double the average fluid with my first and there was no problem.  It will most likely mean you will lose a lot of weight once the baby is born.  I know I did.

Also, I believe babies are supposed to gain 1/2 lb on average these last few weeks, so your baby won't be too huge even if she were delivered a little late.
