Mobile- Ups and Downs to my hood
I live in Williamsburg Brooklyn where gentrification is happening with the swiftness. There are def two totally different demographics trying to coexist here.
The good- there is this little old lady that lives around the block from me. She started talking to me when we'd run into each other walking our dogs. I speak very little spanish and she speaks very little english so it's always interesting. She saw I was pregnant and said she's gonna stop by my apt soon and bring a gift for the baby. So freaking sweet.
The BAD- 2 pit bulls running down the street with makeshift leashes attached to them. My sister runs after them and was able to stop traffic before they got hit by a car. Super close call. Sweet tempered but not cared for properly. One female, One male. Both not fixed and you can tell she just had a litter. No one on the street wants to fess up to who's dogs they are, etc. While i'm trying to call a local no kill shelter (I really had no interest in finding the owners bc I knew they were coming from a bad home) my sister was walking them around trying to get info. This guy nonchalantly walks by her with his kid and was looking at the dogs. Turns out they were his. He says he didn't know how they got out and didn't even act happy to see them. Poor little babies! He took the dogs back but I feel super guilty that they are back with him.
I wanna throat punch this dude. Vent over.
Re: NBR Ups and Downs of my hood
whaaa?? isn't williamsburg almost entirely hipster at this point? (lol) but, for real.
It's a weird balance of hipsters, hipsters that have turned into yuppies, and the ghetto folk. There are projects all over Williamsburg and they ain't going no where.
haha!!
