Trying to Get Pregnant

Blue HPT

I've heard several people claim that blue tests are unreliable. Is there any truth to this? What makes pink lines better?

Re: Blue HPT

  • The dye in the blue ones is harder to read. I think positives trend to come up fainter.

  • Pink-dye tests are less likely to give you an evaporation line that might be mistaken for a positive, particularly when you test early.

Personally, I have never had a problem with blue-dye tests. All three of my pregnancies were confirmed with blue-dye tests only, and I've trusted them to tell me I was not pregnant as well. I would probably still use them if I could find them cheaper than Wondfos, or the Dollar General brand, I use (both of which are pink-dye).

Considering . . . Agatha, Beatrix, Clara, Daphne, Isadora, Josephine, Matilda, Philippa, Tabitha, Winifred . . .
  • Blue dye tests are the devil...infamous for false positives.
  • Blue dye tests are notorious for false positives.
