Baby Names

Sebastian thoughts, type casts, and middle names

Up until now my name obsession has been limited to girls names. However I have recently dived into boys names and my current crush is Sebastian.

I feel like we never hear this name being used, so not common but also not out there.

The second part is we like to honour with middle names and I am just not sure any go with this. Would you put anything from this list with Sebastian?

Jon Jonathan
William
Edward
Frank
Thomas
James
Steven

Thanks ladies.

I like the name Sebastian. I think it is a refreshing name choice. My only issue (and I am probably the only crazy one who thinks this) is whenever I the name Sebastian I think of Sebastian the crab from the Little Mermaid...but he was cute and I liked him...That being said I think Sebastian is a great name.

    I prefer:

    Sebastian Edward

    Sebastian William

    Sebastian James

    Sebastian Thomas

  • Nn I have found online are Sab, Baz and Bastian.

Also one forum pointed out that the child would be called sea bass and teased forever. I think this is pretty tame and really a non issue. Kids will be teased for something no matter what they are named.

  • I'm not really a fan of Sebastian tbh.  Not really sure why though, I do think of the crab from the Little Mermaid but that's not really a "bad" association.  I think any of your middle name choices would work, I would choose one that means the most to you.
  • DS is Sebastian Oliver.  We also considered Sebastian Archer and Sebastian Gage.  We don't use a nn, occasionally people call him Bastian but its rare.  I love it, we don't hear it often and it suits our sweet, crazy little man so perfectly!

  • I like Sebastian, and I think I like Sebastian Thomas the best.

I actually know a couple who named their son Sebastien a couple years who refer to him as "sea bass". My BF only calls him sea bass. So I doubt they'd tease him about it. To us and I think to him (although he is very little), it's just a nn.

  • I think William, Edward, Thomas, and James all go very well. Love Sebastian. It's on our list, too.

For middle names I like Sebastian Thomas and Sebastian James.

    Great names!
  • I just finished reading a book where the hero was named Sebastian, and it definitely rekindled my love for that name.  I like the flow of Sebastian James.

Love Sebastian and the NN Bastian.  I also know someone who goes by the NN Seba.

I think Sebastian James or Sebastian Thomas flow well. Also like pp suggestion of Sebastian Edward.

  • I love Sebastian and I think any of your MN ideas would work well except maybe Jonathan and Steven - neither of which would be bad, they just wouldn't flow as nicely as the others.

  • I love the name Sebastian. I think all those mns would work, but I am particularly fond of Sebastian Oliver, as a PP had mentioned.
