Side eyeable??

What do you find side eyeable and it completely makes you nutty, but you just suck it up and move on?

  • This is most likely a UO, but I completely side eye moms who breast feed pre school aged children. My old co worker breastfed her almost 6 year old. I gagged when she admitted it to me. I completely looked at her in disgust and she said, "what? Is it weird?" Ummmmm.
I can't imagine breastfeeding DS once he can have a full blown conversation with me.
Just my opinion. Do they even get enough nutrients from breastfeeding that long?? I don't have a clue.

But seriously, that is icky. I'm all for breastfeeding, but when the kid is old enough to actually ask for it, it's time to cut the cord.

  • I side eye people who are generally in self denial about anything. For example, people who overspend or buy unnecessary things, then wonder why they're broke, people who don't like to admit when they're wrong, etc...

It's good to 'see' you. How's everything? Feeling OK? Miss you around these parts.

FTR, I side-eye the fluck out of people that let their kids run around in restaurants while they finish their meals. It happened this past weekend, and the kid actually ran into another customer's table and knocked over a drink. The parents did/said nothing.

Ugh...I sideeye this too. My mom apparently breast fed me until I was two I don't remember it though, and even that's a little long for me.

I'm currently sidedeyeing a friendmore of an acquaintance, really who recently told me that she keeps a stash of morning after pills, and uses those instead of BCP...or condoms. And she sleeps with a lot of men. I don't care that she sleeps around, but I do care that she's opening herself up to STD's. Also, I dont think Plan B pills are supposed to be popped like candy...or used as Plan A. She won't listen to reason, though, instead pointing out that she's a lawyer who went to Harvard, and I don't have a Masters. Lovely. And she wonders why we aren't closer.

ETA: I forgot that mobile eats symbols. Sorry!

People who put their kids in big puffy coats in car seats. It happens all the time here. I post about it quite a bit during the winter on Facebook but it is a lost cause.

Same goes for people who use those JJ cole bundle me things. Or turn their child forward facing the second they turn one.

Im kind of a car seat nazi. ;)

Not to sound too preachy, but breastmilk is always nutritious. It's like broccoli- no matter how old you are, it's good for you! :)

Also, I side eye the phrase "If they're old enough to ask for it, they're too old!" This is NOT a direct attack on the poster that said it. I hear it from my mom, even though she has never directly criticized me for extended nursing (I am still nursing LO). I side eye this because even newborns ask to be fed. Mine was very, very clear about her cues that she wanted to nurse (for food or comfort) basically from right when she was born. Also, she started using her word for nursing before she was even 1 year old- which is the minimum recommended time to nurse until. So she obviously wasn't too old.

That being said, I totally respect other people's decisions about how long/if they want to breastfeed. I didn't really plan to go for longer than a year before I got pregnant, then the more I read about it, the longer I thought I might do it, and now I am planning to let LO self wean. We'll see. Sorry to get on a soapbox! :)

    A couple notes.

One, my son started "asking for it" around 9 months. He'd do this little hand signal to ask. The WHO recommends nursing till two, and not just because some countries have poor nutrition as I've heard some claim. The AAP recommends exclusive nursing for six months and continuing till at least a year. That's not a maximum, that's a minimum.

And yes the breast milk still has nutrition that long. It has a lot of good nutrition and benefits. The baby doesn't turn one and suddenly breast milk turns to water.

I nursed DS till 19 months. I thought I'd stop earlier, but he was still such a baby at 12 months and so on.

I agree six is old, but in many other countries people nurse much longer. I can see side eyeing six, but two? I just can't see judging how people feed the baby. It's breast milk, not soda.

This may be an UO also but I side eye people who don't vaccinate their kids. I just can't fathom not protecting my child from potentially deadly diseases when we have the means to do so.

    I doubt this is unpopular.

I said it was a little much for me, not a horrendus error in parenting. People can do whatever they want. I'm aware off the continued nutrition of breast milk since my mother, as I mentioned, is a huge proponent of extended breast feeding. I wouldn't judge a woman who breast fed her two year old, I just wouldn't do it. If it was a four or five year old, I'd probably give them the sideeye.

You have to loosen the seat straps to accommodate the extra bulk. In the case of an accident the coat compresses leaving a large gap between the child and the straps and completely compromising the safety of the seat.

  • When military wives get way too up their own assses about what their husband does for a living. Yes, we know he is in the military. So are a lot of other people. You don't need a camo collar for your damn dog, nor do you need to bring up how your husband "fights for so-and-so's freedom" every time they do something you don't like.

This is probably cause my dad has been in the Army my entire life, so I don't get why you would make it your entire flucking identity.

It's cheaper, better for baby's skin, better for the environment, cuter diapers, fewer blowouts.

I don't have kids yet, but these are the reasons I plan on being a CD mom.

Not going to lie. The original reason I looked into cloth at first was because they were so cute and colorful. The more I researched to more benefits I discovered. It was by far one of the best choices I made!

What I find side eyeable, is people who will say bitchy and snarky things followed by a "Just kidding".

First, there's always a big part of truth to these things. Second, you either put your big girl panties and assume what you say or you don't say it, period.

  • I doth side-eye threads whose titles are misleading.

This one should be called Mommy Wars.

We got some snark, too. Well, LO has only used disposable inserts a handful of times (once on a week long vacation when we didn't want to deal with laundry, and once when we had our full stash professionally stripped). We wanted to use cloth, we use cloth.

Anyways, I'm super-anti-Mommy Wars, though, so I will include the fact that I have zero judgement for how anyone chooses to diaper.

  • I side eye people who claim to be super religious, quote bible verses and go to church all the time....but who are horribly mean people.
