3rd Trimester

Re: (Untitled)

  • Everyone's doctor has different "rules" about traveling in the 3rd, but my OB say after 32 weeks I have to stay within 3 hours of the hospital.  I would say you'd be fine to go 4 hours at 28 weeks as long as you are low risk.

  • My doctor says no travel after 34 weeks so if you aren't having any issues, I'd say go :)

  • I would too.  I did actually, I am a high risk pregnancy and went about 3-4 hours away at 28 weeks for a 2 day business meeting.  I figured there were hospitals all over and I was still going to rest when I could.  All turned out well.  I'm now 36 weeks and just got back from a 4 day conference that was only an hour away, but I did stay there.
  • At 28 weeks? I would. I'm not high risk, but I'm 36 weeks today and I'm going 4 hours away this weekend. It's just one day/night and there are hospitals where I'm going in case of an emergency.

  • I agree with PP's.  If you aren't high risk and don't have any complications, I would still travel.  At 28 weeks, if everything is still going well...you have a long time left until delivery.
  • My dr would be fine with it. Unless you're traveling to some remote part of the world that doesn't have drs.

  • I moved internationally at 32w pregnant and was cleared by my midwife. I am AMA and have GD, but no history of PTL. It was tiring, but fine.
  • My OB told me I can travel in an airplane until 36 weeks. Just make sure to have a plan for contacting OB/Medical Help in the town where I am traveling.

  • I moved 1500 miles (37 hours straight) at 32 weeks with no issues.  I'll be travelling 3-4 hours almost weekly until I pop as well.  IMO 4 hours isn't a "trip", it's a short drive.  But I also have to drive 8-10 hours frequently for work so I'm used to long distances and they don't bother me.  I'm also low risk.

If you do start having contractions just go home.  You most likely won't deliver in 4 hours (or 6 or 8) so you're fine.

I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.

  • Eh I'm going to Maine (3 hours away) at 31 weeks and I'm not worried. The closest hospital is 30 minutes away so that makes me feel better. I would definitely do it!

  • Are you having contractions?  I'm not sure by the thread title.  I've been having tons of BH contractions and my doctor just limited my travel to two hours (I convinced her to make it two hours instead of 1).  I would talk to your doctor if you are having contractions.
