Trying to Get Pregnant

Fertility Diets?

Someone in another thread posted about GF diets, to which someone else posted a link about a fertility diet.

This made me curious- how many of you are eating differently while TTC?  My common sense was telling me to avoid things that I know are bad for me, but I haven't been eating foods specifically for TTC.

Re: Fertility Diets?

  • I haven't been following any specific diet either. Just trying to eat healthy, lot's of fruits and veggies and minimizing the junk. Good luck!

  • I've made dietary changes and mentioned in another thread, but it is more in anticipation of pregnancy. I am very ill when pregnant, so I'm trying to get as healthy as I can now, knowing I will be a mess once it happens. I have way upped my veggies, eliminated caffeine and alcohol, and have been exercising more than normal.

This is what i've done as well, just to get myself a bit healthier. Try to shed the unwanted weight, get off caffeine and try to get more exercise. I'm the one who posted that link in the other thread and it's not so much a 'fertility diet' as just a long article of the impact of diet on fertility (that and a million of other things :) ).

  • I try to have a healthier diet overall, but I have noticed that I am pickier now that we're TTC. I'm not eating out as often and trying to put more effort into making my own meals.
  • I am on the see food diet.

  • TTC inspired me to be the healthiest I can be. No, there is no magic bean or food to get KU but being healthy can only help as there are less underlying issues or problems resulting from bad food choices. I've definitely changed my diet since TTC and its a permanent change, not just until pregnancy. I want to be an example to my LO's someday for healthy eating and that's why I'm making the changes now.
  • I eat the same as I normally would.

This. I'm trying to not eat as much crap food as I used to. I've also switched from coffee to tea to try to get used to less caffeine. I used to enter food and calories into an app and I was super obsessed about staying at or under my calorie goal. Then I thought about when we do have kids and how I don't want them to be obsessed with calories like I was. Instead, I'm just eating as healthy as I can because that's the kind of example I want to give my kids like candrew05 said.
  • I attempted to start eating healthier once TTC but sadly have failed. DH and I have been eating out at fast food places way more lately then we ever used to. I'm hoping that we'll be able to straighten up our diet again once I recover from this flu. I want to be healthier overall for myself, my husband, and for my [future] children.

I unintentionally had to change my diet last year at this time due to PTSD related IBS attack. Ended up losing weight to a healthier size (I was a bit overweight) and now am just trying to maintain my newer size and continue to eat my digestive friendly diet to avoid another crappy few months like last year.

I have noticed DH has been eating healthier and he started running (O.O) a week after we started TTC so he's obviously wanting to be a bit healthier before we have a kid.

    ^this exactly :)
My DH and I keep saying that out loud to one another on those days when it's harder to eat healthy and we're tempted to dive headlong into a quart of ice cream. We want to raise a healthy family and start off with good habits from the get-go. PLUS, feeling healthier overall, I think, will help me feel better equipped for the challenges of pregnancy and parenting, in addition to setting a good example.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, the OP on the other thread linked an article by Harvard that says there is supposedly some benefit to eat full-fat dairy products once or twice a week.  Sooo...That's about all I needed to hear to justify a run to the store this afternoon for ice cream.  ;)

  • I have upped my water and green tea intake, but otherwise I am maintaining the diet and exercise routine I was on prior to TTC.

I did briefly look up diets designed to lower your vaginal pH, but soon realized that eating healthy was enough to handle that issue.

  • Hi, I didn't change my whole diet , just making sure I eat veggies and fruits also iv stopped drinking alchohol and cut down caffeine intake, regular exercise : But from what I'm aware there's no particular diet
  • From everything I've read, you can't really find some magical fruit or veggie or anything that will astronomically boost your chances.  However, due to wanting to take care of my body, knowing I'm most fertile when I'm at my best, and wanting to prep for pregnancy, I'm trying to eat a lot healthier.  Lots of fruit and veggies, very little junk food, cutting back on sweets and only a cup (maybe two) of coffee a day.  Kinda common sense stuff that should be done whether or not you're pregnant, but I'm using TTC as motivation to whip my butt in shape.  :)
