I just wanted to thank the board for all the help with picking out the name for our baby girl. She was born on 5/26 and was a whopping 10 pounds 3 ounces and 20.5 inches long!!
I haven't been posting much lately but I do try to lurk still. Anyway, for the longest time it seemed like Margaret was our perfect name but it just didn't feel right. It was one of those names that's perfect on paper that you date but just can't commit to. Maybe if we ever have a second girl. Anastasia had never really been on our list before but we wanted to use the nickname Annie and DH declined all the other ones. He suggested Anastasia and it just sounded perfect. I'll admit to having some second thoughts the last few weeks before she was born but since she's arrived I realize it is absolutely the perfect name for this baby girl name addict of 15 years. It's uncommon but has a long history and we can use a common nickname that we love and it's just the right amount of femininity for us. And we love the meaning: resurrection! I had an emergency c-section and it got a little scary but I took consolation in the promise of her anticipated name.
Josephine means God will add and we just felt like that meaning held promise for us as well. Josephine had always been on our list as well and I realized that I'd rather use it now than hope to have another chance for it.
So, don't give up searching for that elusive perfect name! We had DS's name picked out for 7 years before his birth and Annie's for only a few months but they are equally perfect for us and them!

Congrats to you! You picked a beautiful name! How are you recovering from the c section? Did you know she would be so big?
I'm having a c section next week because its anticipated the baby will be big! We are still figuring out names too. So your post made me hopeful!

I had a c-section with DS because he was supposed to be big. At 38.5 weeks he measured 8 pounds 11 ounces on a scan (I was having weekly scans and NSTs due to gestational diabetes and he always measured big) so we did a c-section at 39 weeks (also had high blood pressure issues). He was born 8 pounds 6 ounces. With Annie I wanted to try a VBAC but my OB practice wouldn't allow it so I transferred to a midwife practice once I passed my GTT. But we had some last minute concerns and I had to transfer back to the OB at 38.5 weeks. We had a growth scan on 5/23 and she measured 8 pounds 6 ounces. But since it was the only scan since 20 weeks the OB and I agreed that while she was likely big the scans can be off. But, we thought that she was smaller than that- not bigger!! So it was a huuuge surprise for her to be 10 pounds! I was super uncomfortable the last 5 weeks or so, I guess it makes sense now.
Recovery is going well, at this point more sore on the sides from all the tugging but that is because it was an emergency situation (I developed a high fever and her heart rate shot up- I had a kidney infection). With my first c-section after the general abdominal pain left after a few days I only remember having pain around the incision site and it was gone by 2 weeks. So my issues now are more related to the emergency section and I have other lingering symptoms from the infection. Hope your section goes well! I suggest looking at the c-section board they have tips for recovery. The biggest things I read is that it's essential to get up and start moving around by 24 hours (nurses should be trying to get you to do that as well), take the stool softener and set an alarm for when you need/want your pain meds. That's important at the hospital too because the nurses might not be able to get to you right away depending on others needs and the pain can flare up fast! It's much better to keep it at a constant point and under control than try to recover from a flare up of pain because you will have visitors and all sorts of hospital people coming and going and of course the baby!
