Can you breastfeed while taking 20mg of paxil

Ive heard different things from different doctors. Just wondering if any of you have heard anything and/or have had a similar experience.

 

The paxil is NECESSARY or else Id get rid of it all together.  Just not sure if its safer doing that OR giving baby formula.   

 

WHOSE advice do I follow if different doctors tell me different things????

I agree that consulting your doctor or pharmacist is the best plan.  In the meantime you may get good answers on the breastfeeding board.  There are some very knowledgeable posters on there.

Yep. Don't ask the Internet super serious questions like this. Follow your doctor's instructions.

Totally between you and your doctor.

I would not let internet strangers tell me a certain medication is or is not ok to take while breastfeeding. Don't put your child's health at risk by asking a bunch of non-medically educated strangers.

You need to call a certified lactation consultant or your OB.

I would actually call the Infant Risk center with the exact name and dosage. They can give much more data than most LCs or OBs or midwives can. They'll be able to tell you how long it is in your milk and things like that. (LCs usually use the Hale book to look up medications; Infant Risk center is run by Dr. Hale.)
