Hello everyone, The last time I was here and TTC I only tracked my CM and used OPK's which i intend to do again, But this time I'm interested in charting my temps also. Everything I have looked up on it just isn't clicking for me... I understand that I need to test the same time preferably right when I wake up everyday but other than the increase in it, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for as far as the temperatures go.
My back story: my husband and I tried for about a year, got a BFP on 4/29 and had a D/C on 6/7 ... Don't worry, I am giving my body time to heal Im just trying to educate myself on how to chart the BBT. This is our 3rd loss and we believe there was a 4th but it was never confirmed.
Ive read the newbie link and I'm well acquainted with how this board works. I'm not interested in the TTC after a loss board, going over there depresses me.
That's about it, other than my charting question I hope to be joining you all AGAIN as soon as I'm cleared by my doctor! Thanks in advance for taking a minute to help me out :
Re: Charting re:intro
Fertility Friend is a great place to start charting, there's a link to the site in most everyone's siggy.
First off you'll need a BBT (Basal Body Thermometer). These go to .00 instead of .0 very important. You can find them at Walmart or Walgreens usually with the other therms. I use a Mabis its got a pink end cap.
Secondly, set an alarm to wake up and take your temperature everyday BEFORE you get out of bed. For me it's not so important to take it at the exact same time, a few hours difference never showed for me, but always take it after no less than three hours of sleep.
Put those temps into the fertility friend software and it does the work for you.
Good luck and sorry for you losses.
Me: 27 Dh: 35 Testing Begins 3/5/13
Six SA's show DH has low numbers across the board = severe MFI
Genetic testing for me = MTHFR+, also carrier for blood clotting disorder Otherwise all else normal
Dh's karotype= Normal!!
I'm brand new to temping too, so this may not be much help, but I think the idea is that your temperature will spike from your baseline a day or so after you ovulate, and *stay* up. So it really tells you after the fact.
If you haven't started to already, I'd recommend using an online charting site like Fertility Friend. A lot of those programs will interpret your results for you, which will take some of the confusion out of it. The more data you enter, the better your chart will likely be.
Good luck!
With temping, there really isn't anything to look for other than the sustained risein temperature that indicates ovulation has already taken place. It is better to use OPKs and CM to help predict your FW, but these signs don't guarantee that ovulation is going to happen. That's what the BBT is for.
"It does the work for you" was my favorite part! Lol awesome. I'll look into that. Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you, I did have a normal cycle before this D/C so I'm curious weather it will go back to being normal... But tracking the CM and using the OPK's allowed me to know the exact day of ovulation. I like the idea that charting temps will help me confirm it did in fact happen though. As soon as I'm cleared I will be starting my chart. I appreciate the insight!
