Baby Names

Softer Boy Names

I'm looking for some softer sounding boy names that have yet to be taken over by the girls. I really like Dylan but I'm not so sure any more...

I like Tristan but I'm not sold on it because of the meaning. Although I do like the history of the name.

I really don't like in your face boy names...like Diesel, Axel, Gunnar, ect.

Help me out!!!

I obviously seem to like "softer" names (hate that description, but I know what you mean). Not so much luck on the "not being taken over by girls" part. Darn you parents!

Not sure if this helps, because they all sound masculine and "strong" to me. Haha.

Rowan, Rory, Rhys, Riley, Avery, Logan, Ian, Gabriel, Julian, Lucian, Mitchell, Henry, Francis, Ellis, Ezra, Oliver, Flynn, Marshall, Malcolm, August, Miles, Elijah, Graham, Elliott, Evan, Adrian, Finley, Quinn...

Yeah...I know. I don't like it either. Most of the names you listed I would say are strong names...but not "in your face".  They sound intelligent and thoughful. That's what I'm looking for but I live in an area full of "good ole' boys" so I need a name that meets somewhere in the middle. I really like Sebastian but fear he would stand out like a sore thumb.

I think Henry, Ezra, and Oliver may work. :)

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm afraid Sasha wouldn't work at all.

  • I have a soft spot for Cade and Ewan. One is my sons name and the other is what I want to name my next son.

    Sasha Russian for Alexander

Sasha is technically the Russian nickname for Alexander.  The full version is pronounced more or less like Alek-sandr.  Sasha is a very nice name on it's own, but I think it fails the "not taken over by girls" test.

  • I personally LOVE Kelly for a boy. So masculine though I'm not sure that it meets your requirements or how it became a girls name!

When I saw the title of your post I immediately thought of Caleb. What about Nathan, Isaac, Silas, Simon and Elias?

    I do like Isaac.

  • One of the reasons I love my son's name so much is that it sounds "softer" to me. His name is Ethan. I feel the same way about Nathan &  Nathaniel.
