Placenta previa

Sorry if this has been discussed already. Today I had my A/S and they told me I have placenta previa. I had never heard of it, but now that I'm doing my research it makes me nervous. I definitely don't want to have a c section or start bleeding. Have any of you ladies been diagnosed with this and at the follow up U/S it was fixed? Thanks for your help! I'm a ftm and worry about everything!

Re: Placenta previa

  • It's really different for everyone. Some women it moves out of the way and isn't an issue, others though it doesn't budge and a c section is medically necessary.

Do what you can to stay calm and see what your body does at your next u/s and follow the doctors rules, which are typically pelvic rest and no sex.

  • Thanks! I don't see my dr. for another two weeks! The u/s tech told me I had it and just that ill have another scan at 28 weeks. I didn't receive any instructions to be on pelvic rest. Ill take it easy to be safe. I hope your previa gets better too!!

I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa at 15 weeks. I went to the ER because of bleeding. I am now 21 weeks and still have the complete previa. I am on strict pelvic rest and I have many restrictions - no lifting (not easy with a 2 year old), no exercising, etc. Good luck!! :)
  • I found out I have placenta previa at my a/s. they are hoping it moves out of the way. Hang in there positive thoughts! Pelvic rest for me until next scan.
  • I found out during my first pregnancy that I had placenta previa. By 28 weeks it had cleared up. Try not to stress too much and definitely follow pelvic rest.

  • Hey there! So, obviously, you're not alone! I was also diagnosed today and it did strike up some fears in me as well. I am trying to stay calm and pray that it clears up. Take it easy, as you, and I, can do nothing about it!

  • I was diag at 14wks and put on restrictions pelvic rest, no lifting, no exercise. At 20 weeks it had migrated and I am now free to do as I please!
Hope yours migrates too, but if not at least they have the technology to monitor it and keep you safe.
  • I just had my 20 week ultrasound last night and have partial placenta previa too. I haven't had any bleeding or anything, and my doctor told me I can't run anymore. I'm pretty sure I wallowed in my own selfpity last night I know it's best for the baby, but I wanted to be the one to decide when I would stop running, going to spin, etc. I'm feeling much better about it today and keep thinking that a silver lining is the ultrasound ill get in 8 more weeks :
