My lo is 6 weeks and has thrush and I now have it too. Someone told to use gentian violet but does anyone know how much and how often? How long does it take to get rid of it?
Treat your nipple and swab LO's mouth every night for a minimum 5 days. If the purple wears off during the day reapply. I ended up needing to treat us both for about 3 weeks on and off. Good luck.
I was just about to post about this. LC suspects I have it. She recommended using grapeFRUIT seed extract diluted in water on nipple after feeding, taking probiotic acidophilus. I also got my Dr. to call in a prescription for an all purpose nipple ointment.
Google Dr. Jack Newman and read his stuff. It's very helpful.
I'm curious to see other responses though as I'm wondering if I need to be doing anything else....stop wearing breast pads, wash clothes, etc.

I washed everything, breast pads, bras, stuffed toys, with 1/4 cup bleach, and both tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract. I boiled all nipples, pacis, teethers, anything that goes in LO's mouth once then steam sterilized weekly. I switched to disposable nursing pads, only used a bath towel once, and we both for treated with oral diflucan after 2 rounds of nystatin didn't work.

IUI#1 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP, m/c IUI#2 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 5-9) = BFN IUI#3 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP! beta #1 11/23 = 270, P4 = 75 beta #2 11/28 = 2055 Our daughter E was born 7/29/2012! Surprise, our 2nd daughter P was born 5/22/14!
A good probiotic for both you and baby is a must.
Also, I didn't use disposable nursing pads because they have plastic liners that don't allow your breasts to breathe and hold in moisture. One hundred percent cotton ones are best. Just be sure to change them often, especially when they get damp or wet.
