I just recieved that phone call....I failed the glucose test!! I never had any problems with baby #1. I'm shocked and scared! They said my results were 160 and 130 is the cutoff so I now have my appointment next week for the 3 hour test. I'm scared.
I had the exact same thing happen! No issues with DS, but then I had a 160 on the 1 hour. But, I passed the 3 hour with flying colors so try not to worry too much! I think there's a stat out there that 80% of women go on to pass the 3 hour so just focus on that. Good luck!
I failed with a 167 and passed all 4 draws on my 3 hour... I panicked also! Don't stress till you know for sure!! Be ware the three hour drink is much sweeter! I felt like hell the first hour, secound hour I was feeling pretty good and the last hour I was so hungry I was feeling like poo again!!
This was me a week ago. I failed the 1 hr test and had to go back in for the 3 hr test. I was shocked because I passed the 1 hr test with my previous pregnancies. But I passed the 3 hour test without a problem. No GD for me!!!
My MW explained that the 1 hr test is more of a screening test. The 3 hr test is the actual diagnostic test. Try not to worry about it. Although it is a bit of a PITA to do. They draw blood before drinking the soda/drink, then draw 3 more times after. My arms are all bruised from the needles and I look a bit like a junkie. Drinking that stuff on an empty stomach was so gross. That first half hour I thought I was going to throw up on the lady sitting next to me in the waiting room. I was told to bring a small snack to eat after the testing was done. But I was fine without it.
Out of curiosity, did you eat or drink something extra sugary before your 1 hr test? I had a glass of OJ before mine. It was 6 hours before the actual test. So I thought that was enough time for my body to process the OJ. My friend had a pint of ice cream the night before and failed her 1 hour test. (She also passed her 3 hr test). So I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.
i never even got the 3 hour test. i failed the second 1 hour test (passed the first) i got a 199 & they said that was gestational diabetes. They had me test 4 times a day for a week then put me on Glyburide (taken twice a day). i really don't like being on medication & am terrified this will ruin my natural birthing experience. They just set a date this week to induce me a week early. I plan on doing some natural induction options starting at 37 weeks My test numbers do still escalate at times above 120 & i feel like i have a pretty healthy diet.
Most women i've talked to usually pass their 3 hour test so don't worry too much. Basically if you don't pass. Start cutting the carbohydrates down to a very bare minimum. i guess everyone's body handles it differently but i find that i dang near had to give up most things with any kind of flour in it. it really sucks for me

This.
I failed my 1 hour also and passed my 3 hour--all 4 draws were perfect. I had eaten some fruit the night before maybe 7 hours before. I made sure to be stricter the night before my 3 hour.
