July 2013 Moms

Start of my weekly visits!

I just wanted to say that I can't believe that yesterday was the first of my weekly doctor appointments! This time has definitely flown by. I'm excited to say, slowly but surely everything seems to be "falling into place."  My appointment went great, my blood pressure is "perfect", our little girls heartbeat was at 137, I'm measuring exactly were I should be at 36 weeks, and he's just keeping an eye on my swelling. We also had our tour of the hospital and my first class, a breastfeeding class, yesterday. Today, our crib arrived a day early from Target and Saturday is my long anticipated baby shower! It's hard to imagine that in a month our lives will change forever and we'll have our little girl in our arms, finally!!!! I think I might be finally learning how to relax a little, for now at least!

 On a side note, if you plan on breastfeeding, I strongly encourage everyone to take some type of class before hand or at least speak to a lactation consultant! It was so informative and interesting! According to the lactation consultant, if you have insurance, the US passed a law that actually requires all insurance companies to provide a free breast pump to expectant mothers! I had no idea...

 I hope all the other July mommies are doing great!!!

Re: Start of my weekly visits!

  • Yup. I went to one and learned that you can use breast milk for dry skin, pink eye, ear ache and sore throats. She also said I can substitute it for milk in DDs cereal since I didn't breast feed for long with her.

  • Oh! As for the weekly visits, that's awesome! I have Wednesdays appointment and then two weeks later we sit down to pick an induction date, it will be my EDD bc I want to go naturally if I can, and then the weekly appointments start! :D my little guy should be here in 7 weeks or maybe minus a few day.. :D yay to it almost being July!!!!
  • Oh wow! I know it's getting more real and real everyday!! My mom actaully mentioned to me tonight that she wishes I have a scheduled induction so she can be prepared. I thought it was too funny.

  • Lol yeah, I thought about it but I'd rather let him bake as long as he can. DH is leaving work a week before my EDD just in case.

    My BF instructor said the same thing about free breast pumps which turns out not being true... :

    Is it just me or does it seem weird if you actually did substitute breast milk for regular milk in your DD's cereal?  :)

  • I'm not going to bc she is 3 and would know the difference. I also don't plan to use it for home remedies that are listed above on mine.

    I mean I'm sure it's very beneficial healthwise but if my mom told me she was putting it in my cereal when I was 3 I'd probably be like what the heck...  I've seen stranger things though, like my moms friend who breastfed her youngest daughter until she was 5 and went to kindergarten.

  • I am taking a BF class on Monday... Should I bring DH?

    As for the insurance breast pump convo I called Aetna and the rep told me that starting this year insurance does have to cover them not sure if only in NY but since the City of NY's plan doesn't renew until July 1st I have to wait until then to get one for free. Which actually works out well for me since I am not due til the 24th... But I put one on my registry and got it at my shower just in case ;
  • I brought my DH and he thought it was actually really interesting. I would say at least half of the class had their DH's with them.
