The guy on crutches tried to hide his ugly cookies. He's such a whiner and clearly delusional since he keeps messing up stuff and then says he's like the best baker ever.
What's with the girl who didn't realize that adding extra lemon juice to try to bump up the lemon flavor wasn't a good idea? I can't remember what she did last week, but I remember wondering WTH she was doing on a baking show. This opinion has been reinforced tonight.
I think I saw on a preview that yes, he does get caught...
IMO, one needs to remember that "reality shows... aren't!". Quite a few of my IRL friends are on the food TV circuit, and most of them have said after their experience, they'd never do it willingly ever again! Others call it exactly for what it is, the entertainment business, and absolutely completely love doing it.
As for the lemon juice thing, that's just experience. It's all about the chemistry of baking...

I totally called it that she was going home.
Was anyone else annoyed that they weren't making s'mores, they were making mallomars? DH was yelling this at the screen for 20 minutes... And he thinks I'm pathetic for watching this stuff.

I was more annoyed by their pronunciation of macaroon. Oh. My. God.

TOTALLY not s'mores. I was confused about that as well. They could have at least called it a s'mores cookie or something. It was most definitely not a s'more.
And yeah, the macaron thing. I actually heard them pronounce it at least 3 different ways. It was strange.

Yes, but she's on a BAKING competition. She's supposed to be "one of the best bakers in America" and she didn't understand it was going to eff up her cookies to just pour in more lemon juice?! And then she's all: oh... they spread more than they usually do... I don't know why. And the judge said they tasted like cake. Yeah, that's what happens when you throw off the proportions by randomly adding more lemon juice to try to make it more lemony!

They were trying to sound French with the pronunciation. There is a store, La Petit Maison that only sells those and that's how they pronounce it. But the fact that everyone was saying it differently was annoying.
When I think macaroon I think of the almond coconut Passover cookie.

Maybe so, but when I was in Laduree, all of the nice American workers pronounced it macaroooooon. Not ron. LOL I'm just so used to hearing it that way, no matter what the correct way is that will always sound wrong.
I like the coconut one as well, give me either kind! Oh and yes, I'm allergic to almonds, but I sneak once every once in awhile.
Re: American Baking Competition...
He's such a tool.
