Breastfeeding and Infertility

Question for any of you ladies who have done IVF/FET.  I have an apt with my RE this month to look at doing a FET BC /Sept and FET/Oct.  LO will be 8months.  My big goal for BF is to make it to a year.  So my question to you is when doing an FET can you still BF with the meds? I am trying to figure out if I need to start pumping up more to build up my stash or will it be okto keep nursing/pumping while I do a roudn of FET

I post mostly on the SAIF board and while I personally have not done an FET, it sounds like from posts on SAIF, that you must be fully weaned before starting another IVF/FET cycle. Congratulations on your LO and good luck!!

I didn't do IVF, but Clomid and IUI. My Dr said I had to wean before starting my cycles. I assume the same would be true for you.

My RE wouldn't see me until I weaned DS and even wanted to wait at least a cycle after that. I wasn't willing to wean him just for that, so we planned on going back in when he weaned himself. I actually got pregnant on my own, while nursing, which still blows my mind after all we went through to have DS.

Is there a reason you'd like to do the FET when LO is 8 months old? Could you possibly wait another 4-6 months?

I am in the same boat as you. We are hoping to try an FET when LO is 8/9 months. Unfortunately you do have to wean if you are going on meds for 2 reasons: 1) meds can transfer into breast milk and be bad for baby, 2) you need to wean to attempt to get a cycle back. Could you pump now and build a freezer stash so LO could have BM for an additional month or two so you can wean? That's what I'm attempting to do...it's slow going but better than nothing!

Thanks ladies. Figured 8/9 months was good time start.  I wanted make sure I gave my body time to heal from having lo. It took us several years to get him. I figured next time might take while as well.  I am pumping more to build up my stash. I want make sure he has milk to last while. I just feel torn.
