We already bought tickets for Christmas to visit DH's family. We have flown several times with DD before, but she was always a lap child.
This time, she will have her own seat. Will she need a carseat, though? DH's parents have one that they will have in the car already when they pick us up, but do we also need one for the flight?
I plan to ask the airline, but thought someone here might know before I do...
Re: S/O airlinw tickets for a 3 year old
It's not required but I love the use of a car seat on the plane because then I know my child is safe and it makes it easier for him to nap on the plane and he is better about staying in his seat since he treats it like being in the car.
They also sell CARES harnesses which are great for airplane use and keep the child safe as well.

A child under forty pounds, does not fit well in the lap belt portion. It is recommended by professionals that all children, including under two be restrained in a car seat if they are under forty pounds.
I have five and when we fly, like we are at the end of the week, from Florida (where we live) to Canada (where I am from) all five, including two under two (3 months and 9 months) have their own seats. We will be going from Canada to Italy in July as a large group. There is 3 that qualify as lap kids on that portion of the trip and they will all have seats, at a cost of $3600 a person return flight.
We flew from Chicago to Phoenix and back with my then 20 month old daughter in my lap at a cost of $0. I guess I forgot to post the cost of our plane tickets in my OP, oh maybe I didn't because it's irrelevant.
