best pack n play with bassinet

Hey all! Which graco pack n play do you recommend for a bassinet/sleeping option for a newborn? I registered for the one with the cuddle cove on the rec of the chick at bru but now am wondering if that will work best as a bassinet. Any recs or thoughts?

I believe that most (if not all) of the pack n' play options come with the bassinet - it's just a raised portion of the pack n' play.  Like this:

Are you meaning the newborn napper option?  Like this:

There are also some with a reversible napper/changer and others with a napper AND a changer.

Personally, I didn't see the need for the napper/changer.  Seems like quite a waste of money, especially with the price increase to add those options.  We plan to have a swing, bouncer & rock n play too, so no need for all those "napping" options.

You can get the base option (bassinet is removable once baby outgrows) for around $70.

We never used the newborn napper, we tried for about a week, couldn't get it it fit correctly, and gave up. However, we loved the changing pad and bassinet and used them daily in our multistory townhouse. During the daytime that was where DS's napped and was changed until 7months when we moved houses. By that point he was napping at the very bottom of the PnP and had bent the changer with his weight and rolling. For us the mobile was useless, the vibrator a meh, the light only useful when we took the PnP camping when DS was 3 and 14 months. I highly recommend buying several fitted sheets for the PnP if you plan to use it as a nap location.

It all depends on how you intend to use it.  If you have a ranch-style home or small apartment, chances are good you will have LO nap in his/her crib and change him/her on the changing station you have in your nursery.  If you have multiple stories, it is really handy to have these things on the non-nursery floor (as one example, though there are many more), and the PNP is compact and convenient.

i was planning on using it as a bassinet in our room for him to sleep in for the first few months until we transition him to the crib.....

Especially if $ is on your mind, I would think that just the basic model would work fine.

  • My PNP was purchased in 2010 when I was pregnant with DS.  But I still love it, it is currently being used for it's 3rd baby, and 4th come September when BabyGirl comes.

I got this one with our first LO (different color but same thing).  He slept in the newborn napper on the top for about the first 4-5 months.  I loved it and that is what I am planning on using with LO #2.
