My babies are 3 weeks today, we just got out of preemie clothes and are almost to birth weight. Things are going well here at home, busy but happy. Nights are hard. It seems like every other night we have a really good night (up every three hours to feed and back to sleep) and other nights up-all-night.
I've noticed I can't give the paci at night unless I want to be up all night plugging it back in. Does anyone have any idea how I can get it to stay in? Or another brand? They are using the soothie from the hospital. They love to suck for comfort, but just can't keep it in very long.
Right now I'm EBF, however they need more. I've pumped once and now I drown my babies... Do you think it's fine to supplement with formula or would you pump? I'm not ready to introduce the bottle yet. Not sure when I will be. It's only an ounce a day. would you formula feed that ounce?
Do you change the diaper before a feed or after?
Should I still be giving skin to skin?
and here is my AW
Thank you again for all the help. Life is busy, I miss bumping & nesting!
Re: Can you help this new MoM out :)
And why do you think just ebf isn't enough? Are they not gaining enough? Is the pediatrician concerned? It's really hard to know how much they are taking unless you weigh before and after meals. My son, now just a singleton, ate every hour and a half to two hours for his first four months. I don't know what my twins will do once born. But I remember the first three months all I did was feed. I never pumped to help him. And his growth curve was fine. I was exhausted so I finally switched to formula so I could sleep longer than 2 hours.
It sounds like you're doing great and should keep going on ebf unless the drs are worried. Maybe talk to an infant feeding specialist.
Also, I am only thinking off of what happened with my two singleton babies. I'm prego with twins now, so who knows what I'll be saying in a months time! Good luck and what a great pic!!!!!!!
What beautiful babies!! That is a gorgeous picture.
Our LO couldn't keep the hospital paci in either. We switched to Phillips and that worked much better for us.
I love the MAM pacis- they stay in much better.
I had to supplement with bottles because they just never drained me when nursing. I pumped 3 x's a day and would give them pumped milk. Eventually I supplemented with formula when my supply took a dip. But they are 10 months and still nursing- they only get @ 1 bottle of formula a day. So whatever works keep it going!!
We would change the diaper before the feeding and then again if one or both pooped- ugh!
Yes- skin to skin is awesome, do it for as long as they'll let you!!

? I swaddle them so the binky is held in by the blanket. You put the soothie upside down so the blanket lays across the flat part of the soothie. I only did that for the first 6 weeks or so because now they want their arms free

?I would keep nursing instead of supplementing with formula. 1 ounce is not very much so your supply shouId compensate just fine.

?I always change after because they always poop during a feed
Should I still be giving skin to skin?
?I would if I had time. I didn't really have much time with a toddler
