Cyst-like bump on leg

I noticed a few days ago I had a little bump protruding from my left leg, about the size of a quarter. I noticed it again today and mentioned it to a few coworkers who urged me to call my doc. I have no health issues pre pregnancy or during pregnancy so I am not sure what it could be. I have gained little weight and I drink a ton of water. It feels very soft when I touch it, I am worried it could be a clot. The nurse said it may be nothing, but she ordered a Doppler in the cardiovascular section of the hospital for me tomorrow just to rule out any possibilities. Has anyone heard of this or has this happened to any of you ladies during pregnancy?

  • Do you think it could be like a varicose vein? What youre describing sounds like what happened to my mom when she was pregnant.

  • This is a depressing statement, but I had this on my ankle once and it was a fat deposit. Hope it's nothing serious for you.

  • It doesn't look like a varicose vein because it almost feels as if its on my bone on the front part of my leg, where varicose veins are usually on the back of the leg. Fat deposit, varicose vein - i'll be happy with either of those as long as its nothing serious!

  • I had something like that my last pregnancy. It was on the front and middle of my thigh and it was about the size of an m&m. It was firm but soft...not discolored but it seemed to be close to the surface whatever it was. Anyway after I had a baby I went to the dermatologist thinking it was a skin thing and it was biopsied and it was nothing. Wasn't even told what it was but I'm thinking it was like the PP and it was a fat deposit of some sort like a sebacious (?) cyst.

The worrisome blood clots are not visible from the outside. They are known as deep vein thrombosis. Emphasis on the deep, as in you can't feel them. Symptoms can be redness and swelling to the entire leg and calf with redness and tenderness. A localized, superficial area isn't going to be a deep blood clot. You can have superficial clots, but they aren't worrisome and no one should put you on blood thinners for it.
