  • I was joking, I'm sure they didn't. You'll be fine, especially if there's airflow.

They don't use lead paint anymore I think the pp was joking lol! You're fine, a little paint fumes wont do anything, especially if you have widows open, etc

  • Its fine. Stay hydrated and if you feel bad go outdoors. I'm not sure I would take a valuable sick day or day out of my vacation/maternity leave for that.

  • How strong are the fumes?  Most companies use odorless or minimal odor paint these days.

I would just play it by ear and stay, unless the fumes actually caused me to have symptoms.

  • Personally I would get the heck out of there asap, but that's just me..  It probably wasn't non-VOC (less fumes) paint so it will prob. take a few days to get rid of the smell.  I wouldn't work for at least 3 days but I'm super sensitive to any smells like paints now - I would be throwing up.

  • You'll be fine, honestly. That wouldn't stop me from taking frequent breaks to go outside and get fresh air or trying to work from home because of the conditions. But if you have to stay, it won't harm the baby as long as you're getting enough oxygen. If you start to feel light-headed or nauseated, go outside.

  • You will be fine, but if you can afford the day off or work from home, use the excuse to get out and put your feet up and rest!

You probably don't even have to tell your work that you think it will hurt the baby, just say that your pregnant sensitive nose and the paint smell is giving you a headache!

  • I might take the opportunity to have an excuse to go home ;) but the fumes aren't going to hurt you or baby, I have pretty much repainted this whole house this pregnancy. My doc wasn't at all concerned

I am a very busy hairstylist in a very busy salon.  I work 5 days a week and will continue to work until my due date.  Never once have I worried about being in fumes all week.  Nor has my doctor.  I think if it was an issue we would have seen a link by now.  I don't think think being there for a day will hurt you or your baby.

The fumes aren't strong. I'm just worried about it having an effect on the baby

I think you are being overly paranoid. If you feel fine then baby should be fine.
