Our hospital lets you bring music to listen to while you are in labor. I was just wondering if it was actually helpful, or if it's more of a hassle than it's worth.
I'm bringing my iPod but not sure if I'll use it. Last time, I was not able to focus, or hold a conversation. I thought this time, the music may help distract me. I'm open to it but not relying on it.
FTM so I can't say from experience but I am planning to turn on a pandora channel for background noise & comfort in the event I am aware of something other than the labor.

That's really going to depend on you. I'm a huge music person, in my everyday life I've almost always got something playing in the background. I didn't make any special playlists or anything, but just having music on was pretty important to me. I actually really liked stuff I could sing along to. None of it was particularly meaningful, just something to keep me distracted.
I guess it will depend on your labor experience and how long it will take. I plan to bring my iPhone and my Bluetooth portable speakers. Prob listen to my radio show in the morning then move over to pandora.
My boyfriend brought his phone and played classical music while I was in labor. I found it extremely helpful in distracting away a bit from what was going on during the labor and the painful contractions.
Re: music in the delivery room?
Same here.
I made a playlist of music last time and never used it, it just didn't want to hear it at all.
This time I am bringing my hypnobabies birthing tracks.
Ditto.
