PUPPS

I think my itchy and painful stretch marks from the other day have turned into something more. I now have an itchy sensation all over my belly, upper thighs and feet, accompanied by a rash.

Anyone deal with PUPPS during your pregnancy? I've been doing all kinds of reading online about possible treatments, but don't want to jump into anything until I see the OB on Monday. Anything work for you ladies?

Re: PUPPS

  • I don't have PUPPS but a friend of mine does. Her doctor told her to use the clear calamine lotion and she says it seems to be helping.

I got this at 25 weeks and was miserable, hopefully it's not PUPPS for your sake but here are some things I did...calamine lotion, hydrocortisone, oatmeal bath, aveeno body wash and lotion instead of any other body wash or lotion. After all this I saw a dermatologist who prescribed me a topical steroid which gave me only temporary relief. Finally ended up taking an oral steroid and have been "less itchy" ever since. Good luck, hope you get relief soon!

  • oh man oh man...yah, it's dreadful.  i had it during my pg and it was awful...don't scratch b/c now i have scars all over :(.  but, on a good note, i did find something that helped (after i clawed most of my skin off) it's called grandpa's brand pine tar soap--or something like that. we got it on amazon. it stinks, but it helped.  goooood luck to you!
  • I bought some of that stinky soap at Whole Foods today! Praying it helps!! The rash has been spreading and looking worse as the day goes on. :

give it a few days for it to work...like a week maybe? let us know how it goes!
  • I developed PUPPPS postpartum which is very rare. Benadryl cream helped, but check with your OB. I wasn't pregnant so I had more options. I'm sorry it's definitely not fun!

  • Sarna lotion during the day and Calamine lotion at night. It is the only thing that worked for me. Apply generously. I developed at 33 weeks and it lasted until about 10 minutes after my c-section. No lie, the itching stopped almost immediately after the girls were born.
