Anterior Placenta/ Decreased Movement

I'm 33 weeks and due to an anterior placenta, I really have only been feeling consistent movement for 3-4 weeks now. Yesterday there was a sudden lull and I only felt 3 movements all day. I even drank a sugary drink and laid down waiting for more movement. I can't tell if it is normal for a baby getting squished in my belly, plus having the anterior placenta the movements were "muffled" anyways. I'm going to call my OB office when they open. Until then, anyone else experiencing this?

  • I'm right behind you at 32 weeks. I feel the movements more on the sides and bottoms. Also, DS has to be making more grand motions rolls etc. If you are concerned definitely call and see what they want you to do.

  • I also have an AP, and she is a very active baby. But like a PP stated, if I put my arms on my belly - I often feel her more that way than from within. She also likes music so I try putting on some of her favorite hits (baby likes classic rock and kicks along) as well as sugary (and cold - cold is key!) drinks to get her moving if she hadn't been thumping away for a while.

But as always - call the OB and see what they say.

  • This is my third and I have an AP as well. Im almost 33 weeks and I feel strong movements but I had an ultrasound at 29 weeks and the tech outlined the exact placement of my placenta for me. I can only feel the movement on my right side, beyond the edge of my placenta and along the edge at the top. I can feel rolls and shifts down low but if baby weren't in the position he's in with his legs and arms on the right side, I probably wouldn't feel much.

Definitely call if you're worried.... It's so hard to say what's going on, especially with an anterior placenta. It could just be your baby isn't in a position that you can feel movements well.
