Stay at Home Moms

Boston mamas COME IN!

So I work PT now, and my boss is sending me and DH on an all-expenses paid trip to Boston for a couple days (I will be working one of those days).... I was wondering what restaurants you recommend?  Activities/things to do?

We will be going to a Red Sox game... and staying in the financial district.

 TIA!

  • If you're doing a sox game you gotta go to Boston beer works before or after. Good bar food and watermelon beer. It's heaven in a cup.

  • Boston is the best!  From the financial district you can walk to Faneuil Hall - a tourist must.  I highly recommend checking out the North End for an Italian dinner.  All of the little hole in the wall restaurants are awesome - no chains here!  Also check out Newbury St for the fun, upscale stores and lots of restaurants with outdoor seating.  One street over is Copley Sq, which is beautiful and again tons of restaurants.

If you want to do something a little off the beaten path take a cab to Castle Island in South Boston (only 2 miles from Financial District).  It's a big loop walking path that sticks out into the ocean.  It's such a pretty place, with a beach right there and a fun summer place to eat called Sullivan's - fried food and soft serve ice cream.

If you are going over to Fenway I suggest checking out the roof deck at The Baseball Tavern.

When are you going?  Have fun!

  • End of June!  Thanks!

Any suggestions on things DH can do during the day when I'm in the office?

  • If you like beer, I LOVE the Yard House.  They have a hundred beers on tap and their food is great!  They call it an upscale-casual restaurant.  It's only about 2 blocks from Yawkey way.

Duck tours are always fun.  Quincy market is a neat place to walk around.  Quincy market has the Comedy Connection if you enjoy comedy shows. There are several theaters if you enjoy shows.  I think the Blue Man Group is always playing.

yup, all of these things. I think she just planned your trip for you! Boston is fantastic.  We like to go to the aquarium and the north end all in one afternoon.  They are walking distance apart and the aquarium doesn't really take very long, so we head over for a great Italian lunch right after.

  • Just FYI, the comedy connection moved from Quincy market to the Wilbur Theater. Does your hubby like baseball? He should see if they are running tours of Fenway that day.

It's an awesome walking city. I'd recommend your H take a morning to explore just walking around. I'd have him walk over to the aquarium and just follow along the water and just check out the area. He'll come across places for lunch.

The end of June is a beautiful time!!
The aquarium is great too, I agree! If I can think of anything else I'll let you know!

Update: I 2nd the Duck Tour! An awesome overview of Boston!

I don't know them all but Sam LaGrassa's has TO DIE FOR sandwiches. Grill 23 is fantastic along the lines Ruth's Chris. Atlantic Fish is in an awesome location with outdoor seating.

Also check out Legal Harborside really great views and a good meal.
