Clomid for men?

DH has a really low sperm count (3 million) and all his blood work came back normal.  Since his FSH is barely normal the doctor prescribed him Clomid.

Has anyone else's DH used it?  Were there side effects?  Did it help?  The doctor tells us not to get our hopes up.

    My DH took it for several months. His counts are similar to your Dh's and he has low morph and motility. He didn't have side effects and it didn't help him. I think his urologist said it helps around 30 of men. I hope your DH is in that group!

    DH was prescribed Clomid. It did help him but since I learned I had severe DOR and we were headed toward IVF, he stopped it. He felt moody on it but that was about it. Good luck! It can take 3-6 months to see results so hang in there.

     2/16/13 - First BFP of my life @ 6dp5dt! EDD 10/30/13
     3/27/13 - After beta and u/s hell, no heartbeat ever detected. D&C at 9w1d.

    6/5/13 - Adopted four new embryos that had been frozen for seven years!      
    9/12/13 - DEmbryo FET #2. Thawed and transferred two beautiful blasts
    9/17/13 - BFP @ 5dp6dt! EDD 05/31/14
     9/29/13 - m/c @ 5w1d. :(

    11/19/13 - DEmbryo FET #3. Thawed and transferred one blast from each batch. Wow!
     11/23/13 - BFP @ 4dp6dt! EDD 8/7/13
    Beta #1 @ 13dp6dt - 522  Beta #2 @ 16dp6dt - 1373 
    6w5d ultrasound showed one perfect baby with a beautiful heartbeat of 134bpm!

    Snowflake baby is a girl!

    My DH was given clomid as well. His was for testosterone treatment.. I was warned that men can get all the same symptoms as women on clomid like the mood swings and such but luckily we didn't encounter any of that!

    My DH has been on it since late January. (He had low T before starting it.) It boosted his numbers up to well within normal range (33 million at last count) but all other factors are in the same range as before. (Low morph, low motility, high antibodies.) It does mean that we are within IUI territory now, as opposed to IVF/ICSI only =)

    As for side effects, he is normally a pretty moody guy to begin with (could have something to do with the low T). He got worse that way. On the other hand, his sex drive went way up, so that's a bonus? He's generally in a better mood after sex anyways, so it kind of works for us.

    TTC #2 with assistance since 03/11
    Me: 33, Autoimmune (Hashimotos and FMS/CFS)
    Treated with Synthroid, acupuncture, TCM and supplements
    DH: 33, MFI (very low on all counts, high antibodies, hemochromatosis)
    Many treatments tried, none successful

    IVF/ICSI #1 05/14 - EPP/Antagonist, Gonal-F and Luveris, 18R, 14M, 13F - SET of 1BC, all arrested on day 5 - C/P
    Genetic testing = normal, DNA Frag = excellent
    IVF #2 03/15 - Long protocol with Suprefact, Gonal-F, and possibly Luveris, adding in PICSI

    DH was on 6 months did nothing, no side effects gl!

    it helped my DH's volume and numbers. He doesn't have any side effects. He has actually been on it close to a year, which i think is about the limit for men to be on that drug.
